You need to change the Channel Width (20/40/80/160Mhz), not the Channel. Two different things.

Thanks. Seems that both terms were used in the posts above.

Evidently not configurable on my RAXE500 in Access Point Mode. Tried changing the maximum bandwidth to 4800 (channel being the other option) but then the 5 GHz network completely disappeared.

I am getting a little over 900 Mbps down and 275 Mbps up on xfinity. Pretty happy with that. We have fiber coming to my neighborhood soon and wondering if it will be faster.

I have switched between 240mhz and 160 Mhz and have seen the same results
There is no 240 MHz channel width on the 5G channel on my router. Are we talking about the same thing? Channel width (20/40/80) versus (20/40/80/160).

I had terrible speeds on WiFi. I turned off 160 MHz channel width, speeds were back to normal. I then turned 160 MHz back on, speeds dropped. Back to off and speeds were again normal.

I know your problems are cellular but I would like to know the setting on your router to determine if the issue on WiFi is my router. Other Apple devices worked fine. Just the iPhone 15 had issues.

The latest IOS 17.1 public beta seems to have solved the problem with the WiFi speed when the 160 MHz channel width is set on the 5G WiFi bands.

I just installed the update, turned on the 160 MHz channel width, rebooted my AIMesh network, and all the speeds are back to where they should be on WiFi.

With iOS 17.1 on my 15 Pro Max, I still have issues with the 160MHz channels. No webpages load and I can't even access my router's interface. I've had to switch back to using 20/40/80. Using an ASUS-AX86S.

Can't speak for everyone but I disabled "limit Ip address tracking" and the speeds are noticeably snappier. Not sure why it was bottlenecking my speed but worked for me

Just to correct OP:

iPhone 15 does NOT support 160Mhz channel width on 5Ghz. It supports 160Mhz ONLY on 6Ghz. Pathetic and utterly shameful decision from Apple (To prop-up and advertise that Wifi6e is faster)

My iPhone 15 PM does 600-800 Mbps when 10 ft away on 5Ghz and 800-900 Mbps on 6Ghz.

It performs same as my Wife’s 13 Pro at same spot. So maybe you should get your phone replaced. The person who worked on your phone might not have assembled it correctly or your phone had faulty wifi chip.

The WiFi speeds on my iPhone 15 Pro are really poor. My prior iPhone 13 Pro consistently achieved speeds above 400 Mbps. My MacBook Air in the same location as the iPhone records speeds of 690 Mbps download. My iPad Air in the same as the iPhone location gets 200+ Mbps download speed. My iPhone 15 Pro struggles to exceed 80 Mbps. Exact same router, same location, same WiFi network, same load (very little) from other devices. Resetting the network connections in the iPhone does not help.
The problem is likely that VPN is on. And a second problem is, turning VPN off takes two steps (it likes to turn itself back on).

  1. Go to Settings --> General --> VPN & Device Management
  2. Click on VPN and then click on Lockdown Configurations
  3. Turn off connect on demand.

This will turn off VPN and ensure it won't try to start up again. I went through this with an Apple technician and it solved my internet speed problem.

No, there is no VPN involved. The problem was due to a setting in my router. The incompatibility was resolved with an update to IOS.

The issue was the channel width on the 5G band. Turning that off solved the problem. Then the IOS update and I was able to turn the option for channel width back to active.
