iPhone 16 Charge Limit Works erratically

I have set my charge limit to 80%. It appears to work consistently when charging with an Apple plug and cable but I have noticed that the limit only works occasionally when using a non-Apple charging device. This morning when I looked to see if the phone had charged, it was showing 86%.

Anyone else noticed this?

You should be seeing the described behavior regardless of the charger being used:

"If you have Charge Limit set to less than 100 percent, your iPhone will occasionally charge to 100 percent to maintain accurate battery state-of-charge estimates."

The Apple USB-C cable is completely passive, meaning there is no chip telling the connected device anything. The device doesn’t know if it’s an Apple cable.

Unfortunately that seems to be bollocks, my phone charges to 100% at least 1 out of 3 times which is more than "occasionally", that's on a 16 Pro with an Apple charger and latest iOS.

My 15PM rarely charges past the set limit of 80%.. I have an automation that announces when it reaches 85% for the times it does charge past. I've only heard the notification a handful of times. My phone was purchased 18 months ago

Different phone here, but same experience.

After a couple of weeks of behaving normally mine has started charging beyond 80% again - with an Apple charger and latest iOS...

It’s normal. It’s regulating mine does the same as well. Set to 80% and it gets over ridden at times.
