I have noticed a colour shift happening with my iPhone 16 (non-pro) when tilting the phone just a fraction. It goes from a warm colour (when viewing straight on), to a cold colour (with a very small tilt of the phone in any direction).

I went to my local phone shop to compare and mine to their show model. It was exactly the same.

What I would like to know is.. is this normal? or do some iPhone 16's suffer less with this? (i.e. it takes a larger tilt to see the difference, or the warm central part is colder on some phones, making the shift less noticeable)

Are all of you out there with the iPhone 16 seeing the same thing?

All OLED screens do this, if it bothers you I'd return it but it's normal.

The cheaper OLED panels do it more than others. More expensive Samsung made panels are a lott better for off angle shift, by the sounds of it you've got a non-Samsung display as Apple use other cheaper suppliers for the standard iPhone 16 models.

iPhone 16 Pro/Plus likely use a mixture of Samsung/LG which are a lot better.

If it's normal, I'll keep it. It's an amazing phone.

All oled do this but from my own personal experience I had a Samsung s21Ultra that shifted color when just a few centimeters off axis. I also compared it to store models which didn’t exhibit the color shift as bad as mine. So I returned mine.

That's a lot like my current iPhone 16. If I move it just ever so slightly (even less than your video), I get a colour shift.

If the shift is that aggressive meaning a tiny tilt changes to pink green or blue then change it or at least go compare with another iPhone. I have a shift in mine but it’s a slight color shift. Meaning if I’m reading this forum in light mode straight on then a slight tilt will make it slightly warmer. But the whole background whites don’t shift to pink blue or green like the Samsung s21Ultra in the video.

Run 3utools or iMazing on it. lets see what panel it is.

I think it's likely classic panel lottery though, maybe try another for perspective and keep the better one? idk

Update: I went to my local apple store today. All the 16's there had perfect displays. Mine looked yellower and the colour shifted more with less tilt. Will be returning mine.

Good news. The screen on my replacement is WAY better! It looks like the display models in the apple store - no noticeable colour shift (at least until you tilt the phone to a really wide angle).

I wanted the best chance of not getting the same batch, so I changed colour to black (previous was Teal). It came from a different depot (could see via UPS tracking), so I know for sure it's not the same batch.
