Following its event on Monday, Apple allowed selected media and content creators to go hands-on with the iPhone 16 series and other new devices.

The iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max are all equipped with a new "Camera Control" button that allows you to quickly launch the camera, take a photo, start video recording, and more. Later this year, Apple says Camera Control will be updated with the ability to automatically lock focus and exposure on a subject with a light press.

Below, we have rounded up some iPhone 16 hands-on videos, which offer a closer look at the Camera Control and more.

There are also hands-on videos for the Apple Watch Series 10, AirPods 4, and USB-C AirPods Max.

I'm going to guess for the Camera Control button to function fully, new cases will have to have a cutout there? I'm not really crazy out that idea. Of course, you don't have to worry about that if you use your phone without a case. I wish I could, but I don't like the feel of the slippery metal on my fingers.

I’d like to use that capacitive button for scrolling up/down. Maybe slightly press in and scroll to zoom. Double tap as an extra action button. Etc. I can see a lot more use cases for it rather than just camera related things.

Honestly, from my lock screen, I still use the swipe feature to get to the camera. This is just unnecessarily complicating a very simple thing.
Swipe on the lock screen, new camera button, the lock screen camera button, Control Center camera button, Action Button, app on the Home Screen...

I also just use the swipe from the lock screen or from Control Center, though I wish it were still a swipe up from the bottom right like it used to be (I know it can't be on Face ID phones, but my iPhone SE can dream).

Honestly, I forgot about all of those other options 🤣. So, at least FIVE ways to get to the camera...

As an elder millennial, I'm starting to understand the appeal of the Jitterbug phones for the elderly. One button for one thing. Simple. Easy to remember.
