I'm thinking about conversion from IOS to Android. I value minimalism and simplicity and I heard in that case IOS is much better than Android. Also I want a phone for years will long software update. But I'm still thinking if I'm gonna like the IOS.

Also I can't decide between standard and Pro model. I use phone mainly for messaging/e-mails, internet browsing and listening music. Sometimes I take some pictures or videos but really not often. I'm thinking about new phone. For me phone is investment so I would like to use it 5 years and more. Considering my needs should I buy regular 16 or 16 Pro? I feel like Pro is a bit too much for me like too many options that I don't need or don't even know what that is but 60hz screen and usb2 made me think about Pro. What should I choose?

Either device is capable of lasting you 5 years, easily. With your needs in mind, I’d go as cheap as possible.

As a digital minimalist, you don’t really need the newest and greatest. I had a few reasons I needed to upgrade from my 12 mini - my eyes aren't as good as they were when I bought it, battery life was a concern, etc. But I upgraded to the 14 Pro - which at the time was the newest and greatest. And I quickly realized I don’t need everything it’s capable of. My iPhone uses are pretty basic like yours.

I’ve been using my 14 Pro with limited frame rate (60 FPS), to me, it’s not a big deal. I recently switched it back to 120, I can definitely notice the difference, and battery life hasn’t been any worse from what I can tell. You’ll get used to 60 FPS if you go non-pro.

If I was upgrading (which I won’t be this year), I’d personally go with the Pro in Natural Titanium. I love the raw look of it, it’ll match my AW Ultra. Always on display is something I really appreciate on my 14 Pro. Over the last two years, I’ve replaced my 20 year old DSLR with my iPhone. And I think I’d benefit from the higher speeds of USB3.

Ultimately, it’s up to you what you’d rather have. It might even be worth it to find a good deal on a 15 Pro.

Either will be fine.

I was tossing them up and ended up with the Pro, mostly due to the better battery life. I too want to keep it for several years so figured that in 4 years I’d have forgotten the extra money, but would be living with the battery life (which would be degraded by that point). Starting from a higher baseline means battery degradation doesn’t hit as hard.

The other features are just a bonus.

So Calif
is 60hz vs 120 hz really a big deal?
Not a big deal to me - never have been bothered by it.

I can only notice flicker when it's under 40Hz.

I used to work in the motion picture business and 35mm film cameras with 29.97 fps and 24 fps were the norm.
