Yes, they set up Mfg plants in India quite some time ago and just started to manufacture the iPhone 16/16Pros in India. When I went to the Apple store to buy my 16 Pro, I asked the sales guy if it was made in China and told him that I won't accept any phones made in India and he assured they are only selling phones made in China, the unsurprising look on his face just proved that I was one of many who asked that question before. If i remember we went through this same type issue when Canon started building their small cameras in China and not in Japan, Canon had set up Mfg. plants in China and the quality remained the same as Japan.
Is Apple setting up the Mfg. plants in India? this is something people need to know.
The thing is, automated processes and machines produce the same outcome, no matter where they are located. But since iPhones still require the human component, it is safe to say that your bet is better off with Chinese workers having decades of years of experience with a decent work ethic vs Indian workers who just got trained recently. And forget Apple's so called high quality standards and quality control, you can't have QA look at every phone produced to decide if it's good enough to enter the market. So you rely on the workers doing a good enough job...
