So I've gotten my 16PM on launch day and I've generally been very happy with it. I've also tried to make Camera Control part of my workflow as I find it to be quite okay. I changed it to activate after a double click though, to avoid accidental activation.

What I noticed though, is that it sometimes misbehaves if I perform the following sequence:

  • take phone out of my pocket
  • with the screen still being dark and while bringing the phone up to portrait orientation, double click Camera Control
  • while the camera is activating, I rotate the phone to landscape
  • when doing that, the screen will sometimes just shut off and the phone will go to standby. I will need to double click Camera Control again to bring it up
I am running iOS 18.0 and I'm sure I'm not clicking the power button or obstructing the proximity sensor by mistake.

Has anyone experienced this? I somehow suspect that the timing of my action "conflicts" with the "raise to wake" feature triggering simultaneously with my Camera Control double click, creating a mess.

I'm pretty sure it's a bug, but it's hard to reproduce on purpose (it only happens when I need to capture something real quick so I probably do things faster by instinct). So I'm just trying to see if anyone else noticed this.
