I upgraded from an iPhone 13 Pro Max to the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
After going through all of the menus and choosing to transfer from an iCloud Backup, things seemed to have gotten stuck on the "signing in" screen (apple ID image with the circle spinning around it). After about 45 minutes I looked to see if there were any solutions online. This seemed to be an issue during the iPhone 15 launch, and a work around was to change your Apple ID password. Given how many devices I have tied to that ID, I was only going to do that as a last resort.
I decided to try a hard restart on the phone. At one point during the restart a prompt came up asking if I wanted to erase everything on the phone, and I selected yes.
Long story short, I went through the setup process again and had a useable phone with 10-15 minutes (my data was still downloading in the background but I was able to use my phone.
Not sure if anyone else has had this issue, but hopefully this helps.
