Nice so the Pro Max batteries will still overheat like the 15 Pro Max. Good upgrades Apple. Most expensive device they sell and can’t put the best battery in. Such a funky upgrade.

Lol cant believe people buy the 16 PM when it has black foil. That’s folly
Precisely why I’m keeping my 15 plus and skipping this year’s rubbish update.

iPhone 16 and 16 plus is nothing to me. ( although battery removal technology is new )
IPhone 16 pro has metal battery but it’s a fricking 3 thousand plus MaH, trash!

And 16 pro max is shortchanged with the usual black foil battery!

So I’m not upgrading

It's explained in the actual article: It allows a low voltage to be applied to the outside of the battery which causes the special, electrically-sensitive adhesive holding it in place to release more easily, aiding repair/replacement.

The traditional method is pull tabs (something like a 3M Contact Strip where changing the shape of the substrate causes the adhesion to release) but they don't always work very well and can damage the battery in the process.
Never in my life I have heard that ungluing pull tabs damages battery. Is the prying (using tool to pry) with metal things when before broken such tab somehow. Ages ago tabs were breaking with ease but Apple changed that already. After ages of 5/5S if I recall properly.

Applying IPA alcohol helps remove glue and if someone don't have physical disability can do that without damage but with proper technique.
Also you need to really act violently to damage this battery even with metal tools, it's not a balloon blowing up at little damage ;) *

So it has to be for heat dissipation mainly, then Apple maybe experimenting to follow EU law to replace batteries with ease (but I think it's still under debate if it applies for Apple devices or not)

* Statement not applies fully to "Pregnant" battery, but in that case tabs are also loosened at that time so using metal tools is last resort and nobody with so called "self-preservation instinct" would use that - but again IPA and some plastic non sharp tools

Well the standard black foil battery is malleable and soft as compared to metal battery in 16 pro. I’m just extremely confused why it isn’t applied in 16 PRO MAX. I mean, isn’t it the most expensive model? Gosh.
