I can’t find any reference to Trump having mentioned Tim Cook would be investing in the automotive industry? Just that Cook/Apple cancelled some manufacturing in Mexico and planning to invest instead in US based manufacturing, but nothing about investment in the automotive industry? Would be a bit odd as Apple cancelled Apple car last year

Hmm 🤔
Is there more?

I’m missing the context that I assume is in additional tweets?

Here is an article on it. Sounds like Apple manufacturing is coming to the US. I may have misheard the auto industry.

If Apple assembled iPhones in these places, in which order would you get the phone if you could choose?

1) China
2) India
3) Germany
4) Greece
5) Key West, Florida (USA)

So does this mean that the 16e’s price hike wasn’t the fault of tariffs on China?

Not if the phone was produced in India and shipped to the US. We don't know yet.

But Trump has promised more tariffs for other countries from April, so Apple is wise to just assume India will get tariffs too.

the entire iPhone 16 lineup, including iPhone 16e, is being assembled in India for Indian consumers and for export to select countries.
I wonder what those are and if there’s a difference with Chinese iphones

Great to hear that the new device is manufactured/assembled in India from day 1. Increased manufacturing in the country is nice. But not so sure whether the upcoming Air/Slim iPhone will be manufactured from day 1 as it is a new product.

I believe the headline is incorrect and misleading. There is a big difference between manufacturing and assembling.
