Umm…according to the chart, Apple’s share of the market is the same as last year, and down from 2023. Did it take anything, or just benefit from decline in Samsung?

To all those tech YouTubers etc who didn’t like it - they should just review any the ‘pro’ Apple products.

It’s obvious that they only use high end gear…
There are a few who did long term reviews of the 16e and found themselves generally pleased with it overall. They acknowledge that if you really need a good camera because you’re a photographic enthusiast or you need it for your work then you should look at a higher end phone. But if you want a good general purpose phone that takes good pictures then there is nothing wrong with the 16e.

Regarding higher end gear. A lot of automotive reviewers online also slant to reviewing upper tier models because they’re seen as the most desirable despite most consumers generally not opting for those models. Everyone drools over a Mustang GT 5.0 (as the only “true” Mustang) or Bronco Badlands (as the “real” Bronco), but most people are going to buy an Ecoboost Mustang or a lower tier Bronco or even a Bronco Sport (like I did recently) because they’re seen better to suit their needs for a whole variety of reasons.

Pretty good. Calls for celebration. The Mac is already at Walmart; it's only a matter of time before they get a dump bin on the center aisle at Pick'N Save.

This doesn’t really say much, especially with so many Chinese brands. Who are the 33% “other”? That’s the more interesting breakdown.
There is a source link for such questions...

"Outside of the top five, HONOR, Huawei and Motorola are growing quickly and providing tough competition globally. Huawei was the biggest OEM in China in Q1, while HONOR and Motorola showed high growth in multiple markets."

Yeah agreed, most of the reasonable reviews were in websites/publications aimed at 'regular' people. YouTubers were just awful. But yeah, I guess if your 'brand' is 'high end person' they're not going to trash it by saying that the 16e is ok.

And btw, I think that a lot was made about the sticker price - when Apple clearly stated in their launch video that they were working with carriers to get some great deals. And that's true - in the UK, where I am - the budget carriers have got some amazing 36 pay monthly deals (and let's face it, if you get the 16e, you are the type of person keeping it for more than 2 years).

To defend the snooty youtubers, I think the major beef with the 16e is that it's too good. literally. It really isn't much different at all from the regular 16 and because of that it isn't priced quite as low as some would like. But I agree with everything you're saying. It's a great phone for the price and kind of renders the regular 16 as a not-so-great option.
Yeah, you would be hard pushed to get the 16 over the 16e.

I mean who uses the wide angled lens? It makes everything look distorted in landscape shots and is only really good for big groups in the mid range. Macro. OK, nice to have. If you like macro photography, you probably want to go pro. Just saying.

Camera control - a great idea implemented badly.

Brighter screen - definitely handy, but not a must have unless you spend a lot of time reading your phone outside in the bright sun (hint: go and do something else instead!). The 1 nit at night is good, but hint... Probably not a good idea to read your phone in bed.

It's going to be interesting to see how the 17 holds its place in the lineup. Probably as a ladder to the next rung: 'for just $100 more, you could get the 17 air!'

I'm not surprised USA sales are flat, Apple has more than 50% of the market I don't see much more growth here.

Makes sense being the cheaper model. Our organization only buys employees the free offering from our business Verizon account which was the SE, and now the 16e.

A lot of people “eating crow” as they say. Similarly those that criticize Tim Cook. I’m sure he washes his hands for like 5 minutes after shaking hands with “he whom shall not be named” but by keeping calm and carrying on Tim has reaped massive benefits for Apple.

A very good value for an average iPhone user who does not need all the bells and whistles. In fact, the only thing I would miss from my iPhone 15 would be the Dynamic Island, the rest is all good for me. And 16e is a 100$ cheaper, while featuring more RAM and a fresher chip.

This should tell Apple something, the price, that’s why it’s on the top sales list.

This suggests to me that Apple users are more price sensitive than some people think. Tim Cook should think about that while deciding on future price increases.

The more you use Reddit, the less informed you are.

I wish I could find it again but I remember someone made a render of a fictional android phone based solely on what the users of the android subreddit complained about the most. It was about 3 inches thick, had a headphone jack on every side, had about 4 usb c ports on it, a microsd card slot, removable battery, and came with 20 years of promised software updates.
