I find the iPhone or Mac lineup actually very clear. There are steps between each of the product. The iPad lineup is a mess though, there are no steps, there are overlaps and holes.

really?

iphone 15, iphone 15 plus, iphone 16e , iphone 16 , iphone 16 plus, iphones 16 PRO, iphone 16 PRO MAX

I was kind of interested, having an iPhone 13. But no magsafe? That's how I charge my phone every night with the horizontal holder and display, both being very useful. I'll wait to change my current phone. Maybe next year. Maybe not. Losing the macrophotography is also a disappointment. And only 128 gb of storage? Really...

And only 128 gb of storage? Really...

Only? 128GB is fairly common base storage even for more expensive (than $599) phones. The $829 iPhone 16, $929 iPhone 16 Plus, and $999 iPhone 16 Pro all have 128GB base storage. The $799 Samsung Galaxy S25 has 128GB base storage. The $799 Google Pixel 9, $999 Google Pixel 9 Pro, and $1,099 Google Pixel 9 Pro XL all have 128GB base storage.

Exactly. Lot of hate for this phone. It's $599.00 dollars. The good ones are over a grand. It's dirt cheap for an iPhone.

And we need to stop acting like everyone is destitute and can only afford a $399 or $429 phone, which is complete garbage, at least in the United States, where ***** SNAP users have iPhones, big screen tv's and Xbox's.

If you are really scraping pennies and struggling, there are plenty of solid refurbs in iPhone land, and if you know how to shop, you can get a 2 year old phone for a song, and it will be way better than any prior iPhone SE.

This is why I think all of the handwringing is just virtue signaling by tech reviewers. That old SE was a piece of crap. The design is now more than 10 years old, it was LCD, no 5G, not even 1080p and had a ***** Home button. And the 6e is somehow crippled and too expensive because it's $180 more than the last SE? GTFO.

Stop. Making. Everything. A. Race. To. The. Bottom.
Valid criticism is not hate. It doesn’t matter if people can afford a $599 iPhone, Apple isn’t entitled to charge more for that reason. Conversely, Apple is far better off financial than most of its customers so they have no need to charge the prices they do.

Products need to be priced at what they are worth to the consumer, not what they can pay.

It's worth it if you want a new iPhone.

Think about it as an insurance: you pay a few extra hundred dollars to avoid Android. It's important regular people can insure themselves against life-impacting catastrophic events.
If youre a millionare go buy it. BUT I AM NOT A MILLIONARE therefore Im saying its not worth $599.

Is It Worth $599?

Not with a pitiful 128 GB of storage.
Thats actually the only thing I like about 16e is the 128 gb because my phone is only 64gb but I heard all new phones in the future will be 128gb so I can get any phone I want in the future with 128gb. But I am certainly not buying 16e at $599

The 16e is only $170 more ($120 more with same storage) than the comparatively much smaller and archaic SE3. One hardly needs to be a millionaire to justify buying a 16e.

The 16 Pro is $400 more than the 16e, are those only for billionaires?? I guess the 16 Pro Max must only be for the Musk, Bezos, Zuckerberg, etc. crowd??

Maybe I’m missing the point, but Apple is entitled to charge what they want for their products and services and people are entitled to buy those products and services or not.

So I just bought 2 of these for my kids first phones. I hated it, but the whole family has iPhone so I did it.
All said and done: $2000. (YIKES)
That paid for:
  • 2 phones
  • 256GB
  • AC+ for 2 years (thank god this version comes with theft and loss)
  • screen protectors
  • cases
  • taxes

Wow, yes, really expensive, especially for kids, but that's EXACTLY the way, people get lured and finally caught and bound to the so called "ecosystem" and pay on and on and on...

;)

Yep.. my phone bill is $130 month for 3 lines + Apple One = $172 a month for cell phones!!! That is bat **** crazy!

That's at least better than the $140/month (plus taxes and fees) starting price for 3-lines with AT&T when the iPhone launched back in 2007. $140/month is around $214/month in today's dollars and that wasn't even unlimited talk/text. Wireless carrier plan prices have come down quite a bit especially as more prepaid and MVNO options became available.

Let me rephrase that. I didn’t say what I meant to.

I agree Apple can charge whatever they want, but most people will only buy it if they believe it is a good value and worth their money. Just because someone has the money doesn’t mean they are willing to ignore this, and no one should expect them to ignore this.
