iPhone 17 'Air' Expected to Be ~2mm Thinner Than iPhone 16 Pro

Maybe they subtract camera from this one for "thinner"... and then sell the camera separately for a significant increase to the "same great price" for anyone who wants a camera too. 💰💰💰

At this point, I'd rather they take a shot at making the best camera they can, that also offers the phone app (using buds, not holding a camera up to our ears)...

That would keep the focus on "thinner" from compromising the very best camera quality they can deliver... as optical physics won't ever compromise in support of "thinner."

Sounds cool as heck.

It's going to look better than «casual iPhone», feel nicer in your hands, won't be as noticeable in pockets, too. At some point in the future, this thinner model will become the casual iPhone, no matter what techie people on the forums might say ("b-but the battery?!")

And I'm all in for it.

This has to be a test mule to study the durability of the width for the 2026 Apple Turnover flip phone (and no, I don't think it'll be called that). Otherwise, I don't quite understand this concept. Of course, I don't have a market cap of four trillion either so what do I know.
The only trillions of anything most of us have are the cells in our bodies, and maybe over a trillion milliseconds

I really like the idea of this thin phone, but not at the expense of pro-level features. It's curious to me that Apple would finally decide to shake up the long in the tooth iPhone design, but then just give it standard tech. I'm hoping there's more to this story.

I’m still wondering how much of Qualcomm’s tech they are licensing since we all know Intel’s 5G modems weren’t the best.

Apple adding buttons to the iPhone 16 lineup solidified to me that they were no longer pursuing the original Jobs/Ive idea of getting to a thin sheet of glass/metal that was our pocket computer. It's clear the iPhone is now predominantly a (very good) camera. In fact, it's so clear that they added a camera control button! I love the idea that they can push the design forward with one product range while maintaining a separate line that has the features that everyone relies on now.

Then consider the ridiculous camera bulge (no longer a bump), add the obligatory case and you’re back where you started.

How about this? Match the thickness of the case to the camera mountain, strengthen the edge so 3rd party condoms are not requisite and GIVE ME MORE BATTERY! I promise, even in my seriously weakened state, I can manage the extra 55 grams.

Sounds awesome! Tired of the bulky modern iPhones but dont want to sacrifice on screen or promotion at all. This would be a luxury minimalist iPhone and should remain a mainstay just like the Macbook Airs. I'm sure battery life will be great for a solid day of use with Apple's upcoming chip efficiency upgrades which is all most people really need.

I wish they'd make the width and height a little thinner. I miss the 11 Pro rounded feel and size.
