I expect this compromise-laden, high-ticket "iPhone Air" line to have lackluster sales (for two consecutive model years, naturally), but will Apple then finally wise up and give us a nice thick iPhone Ultra, with a 12,000 mAh battery and massive lenses that don't protrude from the enclosure? Nah. That's when we'll get the compromise-laden folding phone we didn't ask for.

I bet they are the same as the 17 Pro's.
Sounds plausible. It meshes with the Air also having an A19 Pro (just with one GPU core less), the wide camera bump, and that they eventually want to move the regular iPhone to spring. So the Air would be part of the Pro lineup in spirit, while the basic iPhones (regular and e) would form their separate lineup in spring.

Boring but at least there is a gold option. Will the Pros get the same colors? Very curious to see this.

So there are two bumps: the first bump and THEN a camera bump?

I'm guessing they did that so the camera bump wouldn't be so pronounced - or am I missing something?
We had a bump on top of another bump since the iPhone 11. Otherwise you’re not missing anything.

Looking back at apples old color pallets I believe it's highly unlikely that there would be a strong black color along side the more pastel tones. If there ends up being a black alongside these other colors id expect it to be a lot lighter.
The finish below might be accurate. Speaking of pastel colors, it looks pretty much like the black regular iPhone 15 to me:

If the Pro models look like the renders, and this… I may go with the Air this year or maybe the Fold 7…

I'm surprisingly OK with that. I don't like the way the iPhone doesn't lie flat when placed face up on a surface. This will, at least, solve that problem. As for the aesthetic, opinions will vary in terms of taste. I agree, though, that the Air model looks somewhat unappealing due to the lack of cameras on the bar. The other models use that space with camera elements so the space seems utilitarian.

The wobble is horrible 😩

BORING! I'm tired of these muted colors.
They're different colors? I thought the white balance on my monitor was all wonky.😁
Give me BOLD! Why does Apple create bold colors for cases and not for the actual camera? I think it is to drive case sales.
I've always gotten a black phone and black case. I'm Henry Ford old school any color "so long as it's black."

Apple plans to offer the iPhone 17 Air in at least four colors, including Black, Silver, Light Gold, and Light Blue, according to a leaker known as Majin Bu.

Black, blue, white and gold? Color scheme inspired by the dress.🤫🤫🤫

The wobble is horrible 😩
Agreed. I use a MagSafe wallet on my 14 Pro to defeat the wobble. I'm hoping this strategy still defeats the wobble on the 17s, and they haven't made the bumps and lumps taller than the wallet!

Gimme a fat saturated burnt orange! 🍿
That would be sweet! I'm still pulling for another deep purple model too. It's cruel they had huge sales on purple, marketed it as their flagship color everywhere, and then never did it again.

I use my phone without a cover, so I guess I would pick the blue one. But I think I'd rather have a more-saturated color. The phone I have now has a blue metallic sheen to it and I'm not sure I'm ready to give that up.🍸😸
