Since a battery case adds a significant amount of thickness, it would negate the purpose of purchasing the iPhone 17 Air. But logic doesn't mean much to Tim Cook because he is more concerned about maximizing profits, and he knows many Apple fans don't care about his illogical product-related decisions. To mitigate this problem, the report said that Apple is planning to release a battery case as an optional accessory for the iPhone 17 Air.
So what if you can get two days from your 16 Pro? When are you ever truly two days away from a charger? On the other hand, I bet you’re never two days away from your phone. Why not carry something slimmer and lighter, and charge it more often? I have the 16 Pro and charge it at least twice a day. I can’t wait for the Air. So what if I need to charge it a third time? I’m at an office, house, or coffee shop when working, and nothing becomes worse by my phone being plugged in multiple times a day. But every aspect is better when it’s slimmer and lighter to carry around. The leak does say “should achieve a full day” so I think it’s reasonable that people are concerned. Even with the A19 and C1 I can’t see it making 36 hours let alone the 48 I can get out of my 16 Pro.
While true, I'd recommend getting a "juice blocker" just to be safe. This is why I got an iPhone 16 Plus, so with a 4,764 mAh battery I can easily run all day on a single charge.Almost all (American) domestic and international flights that I have taken have had power and usb outlets. Don’t know how it’s in other countries
The battery capacity of Apple's rumored iPhone 17 Air will be below the 3,000 mAh mark, according to a recent post from Instant Digital, an account with more than 1.4 million followers on Chinese social media platform Weibo.

Thanks to iOS 26's new Adaptive Power Mode, though, the account said that the iPhone 17 Air should achieve full-day battery life.
A previous rumor pegged the iPhone 17 Air's battery capacity at around 2,800 mAh, which would indeed be below the 3,000 mAh mark.
Some of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 models were the last with battery capacities at or below the 3,000 mAh mark. Of course, you can only directly compare mAh values when the batteries have the same voltage, with Wh a preferred unit of measurement. iPhone batteries typically do have the same voltage, allowing for mAh comparisons.
Instant Digital has accurately leaked Apple information before, such as the Yellow finish for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, and the Apple Watch Ultra 2's Titanium Milanese Loop. However, the account does not have a perfect track record.
A few months ago, The Information's Wayne Ma reported that the iPhone 17 Air would have "worse" battery life compared to previous iPhone models, due to the device's rumored ultra-thin 5.5mm design limiting internal space for a battery.
In internal testing, Apple determined that the percentage of users who will be able to use the iPhone 17 Air for a full day without needing to recharge the device throughout the day will be between 60% and 70%, according to that report. For other iPhone models, the report said that metric is apparently between 80% and 90%.
To mitigate this problem, the report said that Apple is planning to release a battery case as an optional accessory for the iPhone 17 Air.
Apple last released battery cases for the iPhone 11 lineup, followed by the since-discontinued MagSafe Battery Pack for iPhone 12 models and newer. A battery case both protects an iPhone and provides additional battery life as necessary.

I don’t take a charger with me when I go out so I’d either have to start (nullifying the slimness off the phone) or beg/borrow one while I’m out. I like to be able to leave my home first thing, use my phone for whatever I need and be confident it will be working at midnight. Not too much to ask in 2025 surely? So what if you can get two days from your 16 Pro? When are you ever truly two days away from a charger? Having said all that, everyone obviously has different needs and priorities. Buy what’s best for you and your needs. What I don’t understand is why we should care if a phone can go uncharged for 2 days. Where is anyone going to need this and how often to justify having to carry a brick on a daily basis because of it?
Of course, that’s not too much to ask, and as I mentioned before, everyone has different needs and priorities. However, what you’re saying here is completely different from a phone lasting two days on a single charge, which is what I was responding to. I have the same phone as you, and I still can’t go out in the morning and return at midnight without charging it. Clearly, we have different uses for our devices.I don’t take a charger with me when I go out so I’d either have to start (nullifying the slimness off the phone) or beg/borrow one while I’m out. Another day, another "Apple is dooooooomed because I don't like a thing that may or may not happen" thread on MR. These comments that make it sound as if this rumored phone will die in the middle of the day, and there's no solution, are just hilarious. They make it sound like all chargers will magically vanish on the day such a phone is released and that users have no recourse but to helplessly watch their phones drain to 0% and die before they can go home at 2AM to the one and only charger that exists in their world.
We don't know about this unannounced device's battery life. We know of a rumor about its battery capacity. What will that mean in real world use? No one here knows. No one. But don't let that stop people from making things up. If you don't like this rumored device, don't buy one. Others will make their own decisions without the dubious and speculative advice that can be found here.
It must be very frustrating to be omniscient about all the software and hardware that Apple has yet to release, and to be so clearly better at all business decisions than every Apple employee.
Disagree. I’ve had iPhones for 15 years. I’m solidly in the apple camp. After test driving the S25 Edge for a week my 16 pro max feels crazy heavy and fat. I hate picking it up. iPhone Air can’t come fast enoughAn "Air" iPhone is the dumbest effort that could be done today. Absolutely no one in the world is asking for this product or thinking "I wish my iPhone was 1 ounce lighter." What some people do want is a small-screen iPhone, and in this era that would be a screen about the size of the iPhone 8.
We are talking about 17 air in this thread….🤦🏻Well then you're in luck. Word is the 17 pro has a better battery than the 16 pro.
Tim cuck got replaced?!Failed Apple products that flopped were the domain of the previous CEO.
No... most of Apple's product flops were under Jobs' leadership.Tim cuck got replaced?!
I’ve owned iPhone 14 Plus and 15plus, both had terrific battery life. Easily similar to my 16 Pro Max.This is why I'm glad I bought the iPhone 16 Plus with its 4,674 mAh battery.
You missed the point. The Plus is discontinued in favor of the Air, which IMO sucks. Then don't buy the skinny-ass phone.
No, I'm asking for better battery tech in the same size and thickness as the 16 Plus. Then you are asking for an Apple Brick tm
No, I'll be forced to buy either the regular 17, or the 17 Pro Max.Sorry, you will be forced to buy the skinny ass one.
Based on your signature you didnt buy a 16 Plus. You missed the point. The Plus is discontinued in favor of the Air, which IMO sucks.
And? What does that have to do with me wanting a bigger phone next time? By choosing the 16 (and the 14, 12, 11 before it) am I doomed to always have to buy the smaller of two phones? Or can I, due to free will, change my mind during an upcoming release cycle?Based on your signature you didnt buy a 16 Plus.
Because you're part of the reason why it was cancelled. The Plus, just like the Mini, didn't have enough buyers for Apple to keep them around. If people who said they wanted a small phone or a big phone bought the small phone or the big phone, we would still have a small phone or a big phone. And? Right, I didn’t do my part. 😀 There are two other Pluses in the family, but because I didn’t get one, I’m part of the problem.Because you're part of the reason why it was cancelled.
