Man, have the Torras on since the factory cover was removed. Hope this does not screw up my screens coating 🙁

The adhesive on screen protectors will NOT damage the oleophobic coating on the iPhone screen. It will have to be something abrasive like... disinfecting wipes or alcohol pads of a certain concentration.

Anyone just have their screen protector installed at the Apple Store? Is the Belkin (I believe) that they use a decent option? I upgrade phones every 4-5 years and honestly the screen protector install is my least favorite part of the experience.

I removed the Torras OrigArmor on my 17 pro yesterday due to many micro scratches that were bugging the crap out of me. I put a cheap temporary one on until the new one I ordered comes in tomorrow. Never heard of this brand BossKiss but it’s currently on Amazon and on sale for $12.23 for a 2 pack and says it has 3d curved edges and doesn’t cover any pixels. It also has anti glare, anti blue light, and no rainbow effect. Worth a try for $13.00. I’ll let you know how it is when I get it installed tomorrow.

I'd think most of us are putting these on when the phone was fresh outta the box so no rubbing alcohol wipe needed.

I always use the alcohol wipe when changing screen protectors and I’ve never noticed what he posted.

Whenever I get a new phone, I get the screensaver installed at the Apple Store. I go for the Belkin option they have in-store. the one that they use their install tool for. I don't even remove the factory installed "screen peel", before installation, to avoid dust / dirt on the screen.

In my experience, Apple is very good with their policy for screen saver installation. They get it right or they will make it right. I have not had any problems with the Belkin screen protector. YMMV 🙂

Is this the same one that people have been complaining about micro-scratches?

Feel kinda bad for that one guy, who was one of the first, to complain about micro-scratches on his OrigArmor, and no one believed him, with some accusing him of being negligent.

Now reports shows that it was actually true, that this screen protector scratches very easily.

More than likely unless they have addressed any quality concerns. To be honest I haven’t seen any micro scratches on mine and Im on Day 12 now.

It’s weird because he said the rubbing alcohol which would be the wipes, and then somebody under comments not to use screen protectors. Like I said I used an alcohol wipe to clean my screen before I installed a Torras OrigArmor after a ESR Corning and I didn’t notice what he posted.

I am on my second. Both had scratches out of the box and they are more prone to scratching than previous years.

my Spigen AluminaCore (installed on the iphone 17 straight out of the box, launch day) now has scratches all over the place, including over the front camera. i can't figure out how this happened as i never put anything else in my pants pocket with the phone. and i've used spigen screen protectors on 3 or 4 generations of phones now, and never had a problem or a scratch until this one.

are these defective or? very surprised. plus the rainbow thing at the edge kind of bugs me.

No problems with my wife’s or mine. She has it for the Air and I have the 17PM. No rainbow either.

Here’s hoping either hoda or Shellrus will drop a sapphire screen protector with an AR coating.

I went with Shellrus for the first time and I am impressed with it. My only observation is it does accumulate finger prints but probably no worse than then original glass. Perhaps a better oleophobic coating (if it has one) is in order.

I don’t know how people can support Flolab anymore.

They (yet again) released a screen protector that doesn’t fit properly and a month later they dropped their 3D screen protector for the same price.

Anyone who purchased the launch screen protectors got screwed over.

I noted today that if you install the lens protector and press it on too hard, the contact creates a hazy area. Did not affect the camera but bugged me. I remove and the reseated without pressing as hard and its fine. This seems to indicate a rush to production and a lack of testing.

It was pretty easy just go slow from one end to the other. I am shocked at the quality of the applicator. It's cheap and marginal compared with other companies that have made it easier and dustless. I also found peeling the backing off the protector a bit difficult. I thought I was going to break it but I just peeled gently/slowly.

I went with the in-store Belkin. Nice, simple, easy and two year warranty. Also if I need to replace my iPhone for any reason at all (eg warranty claim) they will apply a new screen protector free.

I went with the same one on mine. No dust or air trapped, aligned perfectly.

Yeah, they installed it on mine in store when I picked my 17PM up and it's aligned perfectly. I can't tell I even have one on there.

Tried the Spigen AluminaCore Privacy one but not pleased with it at all. Both in the kit had a poor application of oleophobic coating; there’s a crooked rectangular shape that appears on the screen protector after use, that collects the most fingerprints/oil. Very distinct shape, while the rest of the screen looks fine.

Clarity is also not so great, my ESR privacy glass for the 16 Pro was super clear and had great privacy properties.

Anyone have good recommendations on a privacy screen protector that does not have the black adhesive border? Heard flolabs is good but the black border kinda bothers me

I don’t know how OCD you are, but if you dare, can you open up this image and see if it cuts into the screen a bit on the left and right side?

Also, do you happen to see any light leakage along the edges of the Shellrus?
