It effectively is the 16 Pro, just updated and with a dual camera design.
Considering how unreliable the 16 Pro camera appears to be for quite a few users, the new system shouldn’t be too much of difference.
Actually, LiDAR has ruined videos through windows/glass far too often for me since I have a 15 Pro.
This years Pro is very interesting, but the standard iPhone is already very big of an upgrade compared to any non Pro iPhone this far. At a price lower than any „Pro“ since the iPhone X.

It’s just what we kinda always imagined the „default“ iPhone should be, I think.
It seems Apple is going entirely new ways next year.
Next year is going to be big, but this year was very nice too TBH.

Also double storage is nice. Tempting releases.

Not sure about the comparison to SE.

Rather, feels like an iPhone 11 to me in terms of value. The 11 got Night Mode, ultrawide, 4GB RAM, Gigabit LTE, U1, and water resistance like the 11 Pro.

Agree 17 is good value. It's got the 120Hz display but not the 12GB RAM. Seems like a fair tradeoff.

This year is definitely the year they stopped Pro-gatekeeping some of the most QoL-impactful features
Just read that it still only has USB 2 but who is really moving files via cable with their phone?
I have to say, if I was in the market for a new iPhone the 17 would have all I came to „need“: bright OLED, 120hz, AOD, thin bezels, ultra wide and telephoto capabilities, speed.

I never considered the 11 a good upgrade or model because of its first gen ultra wide camera, the bigger frame with the bigger bezels, and the LCD.
It felt off, it was a downgrade on some ways from the previous generation in some ways.
But putting it like that it makes sense to compare the 17 to the 11.
