I'm reading that both 17 and 17 Pro have the same display size, yet the 17 dimensions are smaller, so the 17 has thinner bezels it seems?

Glad to see base storage increasing to 256 for the base 17 model without any increase in price. Also good to see a 2TB Pro iPhone. Costly but good to have options.
Except there is an increase in price, it’s just obfuscated by “more storage”.

It’s still spending more money, at a higher level of the ladder than previously.

why would we care if we aren't in the country. inflation is expected when you are buying products based in a different country lol.
inflation

or variation in exchange rate?

Apples base price has inflated, its their greatest innovation.

THe exchange rate to the US has been all over hte show, and apple always hedges that currency variance in their favour.

To give you an example - the base Galaxy Z Fold 7 is $1,999 in the US (pre-tax). In Europe that is selling for €2,049 (tax included).

The 2tb 17 Pro Max is also $1,999 in the US, but in Europe it's €2,489. That's €440 more expensive.

Why are 2 products that are the same price in the US so vastly different in price in Europe? Both companies have the same currency issues to consider.

America isn't the center of the universe or the only place on Earth.

That's not what inflation is.

The difference between Europe and America (I cannot believe we are STILL having to remind people about this) is that European prices include VAT, plus some specific regulations like SIM card trays, earbuds that must be included in the packaging in some regions, localization, and operative costs.

Apple is still price-gouging in Europe, though.

The prices in America seem reasonable this year, when considering the upgraded base memory and the fact that tariffs seem to have been erased somehow.

I’d guess one of them is offsetting changes forced by EU regulators against their App Store. Just a guess, though.

So strange this is reserved to the Pro Max. Like, those aren't hard drives where storage size can mean the drive needs to be larger... 2TB flash storage is like smaller than a peanut in volume these days
It’s possible it’s 2 x 1TB chips to hit the 2TB and there’s no room for the second chip in the Pro or Apple didn’t want to make room. We’ll see in tear down but I expect this is the route they went.

Hopefully it’s striped (RAID 0) for double the storage performance ;) No one ever really tests storage performance on phones do they?

You should put up the Euro and Sterling prices too - show people just how much Apple is overcharging people outside the US €2489 for the 2tb 17 Pro Max!
Blame your government. The EU's been imposing costs on Apple, and Apple has to recoup those costs.

Apple was never going to swallow the cost of implementing third party stores etc. You're paying for that.
