Does anyone think we're missing something massive here? Hoping we are, because this design is abysmal. The case leaks all show a big cutout around this area... wondering if there might be a 'cover display' incoming like we see on foldables like the Moto Razr 50 Ultra? Screen on rear of the Pro, Air superslim design, both paving the way for a future combination...?
The amount of space is deceiving in the photos. There is barely enough room to fit another lens across, maybe two if you stagger top and bottom. A useable screen would not really be possible. Certainly not on the 17 Pro standard size.

Give me a 17pro mini already. I can barely tolerate my 15pro's size. I want the mini back I just want it to have the cameras and not feel like it's trying to burn up while charging.

If, and it's a big if, this is the final design, imho, this is the fugliest iPhone design to date.

Of all the creative minds at Cupertino, you'd think they could do better. Even a lot of the renders you see on various social media site are 10,20 times better looking than this rubbish.

Apple, listen up. I am not impressed. If I don't see improvements - dramatic improvements, I'll be around there with a wooden spoon and give you a jolly good thrashing.

Must do better! Now buck your ideas up.

The more I see renders of the giant "camera area" on the Pros, the more I dislike it. It's almost like they came up with the Pixel-like camera bar for the Air and then decided to imitate it on the Pro models, but it is far less appealing given the already large size of the Pro camera bump. The worst thing is knowing that this is the design we're stuck with for the next three years, at least.

As for the blue color, meh. It's a pale, grayish blue. You'd think that since they are dropping titanium, they'd be less obligated to make every color a shade of gray, but looks like they're still convinced that's what "Pros" want.

Apple will unveil the iPhone 17 Pro in a new Sky Blue color, the same color that debuted on the latest M4 MacBook Air models Apple released in March. That's according to the leaker Majin Bu.

Concept mockup from Majin Bu

Writing on his website, Bu claims that "sources close to the supply chain confirm that several iPhone 17 Pro prototypes have been made in various colors, with Sky Blue currently the frontrunner." Bu goes on to say that it "looks even more stunning than the much-loved Sierra Blue of the iPhone 13 Pro, with a brightness and refinement that make it irresistible."

The Sky Blue finish on the MacBook Air is not very saturated, and the color's appearance can vary based on lighting conditions. Apple describes it as "a beautiful, metallic light blue that creates a dynamic gradient when light reflects off of its surface."

Apple has stuck to muted colors for its recent iPhone "Pro" models made from titanium, and it offered a new Desert Titanium color for the iPhone 16 Pro, which also comes in Natural Titanium, White Titanium, and Black Titanium.

Majin Bu accurately revealed the "Desert Titanium" color name for iPhone 16 Pro models seven months before the devices launched. However, some of his information has been wrong, including a rumor about an iPad 11 being imminent in 2023.

This is the first rumor about iPhone 17 colors that we've covered. Assuming for now its accuracy, would you be interested in an iPhone 17 in the Sky Blue color Apple has already used for the MacBook Air? Let us know in the comments.

My biggest iPhone-regret is that I didn't get the Sierra Blue 13 Pro. I had the 12 Pro at the time, and skipped it.

That color was fire. I’m a sucker for light blue with a little grey in it. I’m lusting for the new MacBook Air in sky blue. If they put an iPhone out this year with that kind of color I’ll have a hard time resisting.

Honestly the main reason I got my 15 Pro was because of the natural titanium color. I think people on these forums underestimate the power of colors on iPhone.

We just had the iPhone 13 Pro with Sierra Blue.
iPhone 12 Pro in Pacific Blue is still the best blue we've had though.
I had the pacific blue 12 pro. I was immediately jealous of the sierra blue 13 pro.

To each their own 🤷‍♂️

Still not digging that design at all 🤣
We'll see.
Canned response. “We’ll see” means it will suddenly grown on you closer to launch and you will still buy it. Don’t be kidding yourself with the “we’ll see” bit.

The issue is that all phones are ugly now.

Once Apple conceded ergonomics for better cameras, and chose to join the multi-lens cold-war, aesthetics for our phones kinda went out the window.

I get it. Our phones are our most valuable tool at this point. They’re no longer a status symbol, or a fashion accessory. They’re a vital part of existing in modern society.

So they’ve become more utilitarian. More brutalist. It makes sense.

I’m ready for the pendulum to swing back the other way a little bit, though. Beautiful objects are not a sin, they’re a celebration of the more nuanced aspects of being a human.

Movies, music, paintings, novels, …. Sexy iPhones.

Finally. The colors on the pro series have been drab these past few years and I imagine with more of the phone exposed when using a case due to that enlarged camera bump I'm guessing that motivated Apple to make it more appealing.

It would be very cool but I can’t wait for Apple to explain why that expansion of the camera, like why they chose that there has to be a reason.

Pacific Blue was a great color. I still have my PB 12 Pro. I’ll have to take a look at the sky blue 17 Pro at the Apple Store when it arrives. It may be close to Sierra Blue.

Don't know how the final colour will look like. Would like to see saturated colors. Colors on the Pro models are very dull.
Sierra Blue that is brighter than the one on 13 Pro but not very dark should be good. Waiting to hear more on this.

Is it just me?
That looks kinda like the Sierra blue on the 13 Pro.
Yeah, it looks like they recycled Sierra Blue. I know some people love(ed) that color on their 13 Pro and TBH I would’ve probably gone for that color too if I didn’t buy a Pacific Blue 12 Pro and decided to wait for the 13 Pro. I just wonder if this “new” sky blue color is replacing the desert titanium or natural titanium? Is there any chance we’ll get two new colors in addition to the standard black and white? Maybe a teal or burnt orange color option.
