Gotcha, and I'm not really trying to diss the supposed improvements or anything. I just haven't gotten to the point with my photography where I really need that capability just yet, that's all. If I were dissatisfied with the results I was getting with my existing gear I would certainly consider the upgrade once it comes along. It'll be interesting to see what they come up with next week. I'm not inclined to replace this 13PM since it works so well. I just haven't yet seen anything that says to me "I just got to have that" to the point I'm willing to toss paid-for gear which includes a number of accessories which would be orphaned if I made the switch. The improvements are still what I would consider "incremental" when it comes to spending the bucks to replace existing gear. We shall see.Hopefully you carry your dSLR around with you everywhere you go then.
It's a matter of convenience. You can get similar results by manually cropping the pictures afterwards, but it's a royal PITA, and it makes framing harder when you take the picture. Plus, the results for cropped zooms can be quite decent if there is sufficient light. To me, having a 48 MP telephoto with a 7X or 8X cropped zoom would be a major win. In fact, I specifically did not buy the 16 Pro Max to replace my 12 Pro Max, because I was waiting for this new 48 MP telephoto sensor in the 17 Pro Max, with crop zoom. I am personally not expecting a true zoom with moving lenses, but we shall see next week.
Will a price bump for 17 Pro affect prices of refurbished 16 Pros, what do we think 🤔Still debating picking up a 16 Pro vs. the 17 Pro as I miss the zoom and higher refresh screen, and I'm uncertain on that bulkier 17 Pro form factor... plus the rumored price bump, and the rumors around this zoom upgrade which may or may not be much of an upgrade... 🤷♂️
Hey. These upgrades, as hyped as they may be and as many numbers that they throw around really wind up being pretty incremental to an average user. Sure, if you've GOT to have the highest pixel density in a camera or something because you're a professional that uses the equipment and has to "push the envelope" (although photography ain't all about pixel density) ... that's one thing. If you find that the 16 Pro would do the job for you and save you some bucks you should go for it. As for myself, I'm still rocking along with a 1TB 13PM because the thing just works great and an upgrade isn't worth the money to ME yet. I'm not even using 200GB out of that terabyte with the massive content I have. (Heh, if I ever do finally upgrade the 1TB might be an overkill for me, but I digress).Still debating picking up a 16 Pro vs. the 17 Pro as I miss the zoom and higher refresh screen, and I'm uncertain on that bulkier 17 Pro form factor... plus the rumored price bump, and the rumors around this zoom upgrade which may or may not be much of an upgrade... 🤷♂️
That huge camera bump better be there to house a real zoomHopefully you carry your dSLR around with you everywhere you go then.
