They spent months glazing and hyping the “premium material” of titanium. Millions dropped into advertising budgets to show how amazing it is. And then quietly moving back to the cheap, non-premium aluminum. Why are they regressing? This is ridiculous.
PowerBook G4 Titanium -> Aluminum again

Ugh it really depends on what they do.

I may upgrade this year just to have a smaller-sized phone. The Pro Max that I have is just a lil too big, I'd like to step down a size.

8k video recording is cool…and I feel a bit overkill. I use my iPhone to record our YouTube videos and occasionally a GoPro Hero 13. 5.3k from the GoPro is great because I can crop and still output to 4K without quality loss. 6k would offer the same flexibility (and obviously 8k would too), but I don’t think 8k video consumption is really a thing….YET.

🤷‍♂️

Something tells me the N3P chips, including the A19, are going to be quite hot…

They are designing the iPhone with a vapor chamber and overall an improved cooling system.

Oh the other hand, we know the N3P process “only” offers a 5% increase in efficiency at the same clock speed, and they are going to overclock it more to achieve a more noticeable performance improvement. So… yeah, quite hot I suspect.
Yeah, that, plus the larger battery/thicker size stood out to me. Makes you wonder...

Nothing to excite this 16PM owner, but that's pretty much normal now in the world of iterative updates from most phone manufacturers.

Having said that, I do like the blue color.

Absolutely nothing of interest here to make me want to upgrade from 15 pro max. Quite the opposite. Depending on what gets announced at WWDC in terms of software, I might jump ship to a pixel. At this point nothing in hardware has been revolutionary for a while, but AI offerings on the android side are making is more and more compelling to me.

The 17 Pro is rumoured to have a 4500 Mh battery which may be enough to convince me to upgrade my 15 Pro (about 3200 mh ish).

I've had every iPhone through the 12PM and every year my excitement that "this is the year I upgrade" cools by launch. I don't take many photos/selfies so the camera upgrade march means squat to me.

Have you considered getting an actual camera? I don’t mean to poke at you, just curious because you said you want the best possible camera. I think we’re at a point where a camera has a phone built in rather than the other way around. Somehow I like the idea of 16E with a single-dual camera, but I wish the phone was smaller.
I have a $7000 Canon camera body. I just don't want to carry it with me everywhere I go. I do carry my phone everywhere.

I still have my 11Pro and part of that is because it still works great and part of that is that it does not have such a thick camera bump that even with a leather case it still protrudes. I would not mind if the phone was a few millimeters thicker if it would make it smoother overall (less/no bump). (Plus room for more battery life at the same time)

Still, having a better camera always with me would be nice. I am sure that sometime soon the 11Pro will have to be replaced but right now, it still works (albeit the cameras on the newer phones are definitely nice)

12 PM is a great phone.

All these folks bragging about skipping a year like it’s this big sacrifice are hilarious (first world problems to be frank). the last BIG deal improvement was introduction of night mode photos in iPhone 11 — game changed for low light smart phone photography. After that it’s just the same thing just a bit better every year.

Use the iPhone until it’s dead I say

Swear we were promised big upgrades this time last year when really these aren’t much at all. It’s why I’m ready to get iPhone foldable next year as camera tech will never be that great on the iphone

12 new features… Aluminium frame, rectangular camera bump, sky blue finish, larger battery, blah blah blah.

12 new CHANGES are more appropriate. Nothing fundamentally change at all!
