It could also be where some of the vapor chamber is located.
Unlikely. Probably glass. That has a lower thermal conductivity than metal. If there was one it'd be mated to the metal part of the case.

Do you mean 3.5X / 7X or 4X / 8X? I don't recall a 5X rumour.The rumored 5/8x tele optical zoom will be the one feature wanting me to upgrade to a 17PM from my 13PM...
5 or so more weeks to go til we know for real
Do you mean 3.5X / 7X or 4X / 8X? I don't recall a 5X rumour.
Upgrading from my 16 PM specifically for that feature alone! 🤪🤡 Deal with it! 😎What? No mention of relocated Apple logo?![]()
Hmmm. AFAIK, the original rumour didn’t say 5X / 8X though. It said up to 8X. The 5X in the link provided to another MacRumors article seems to be from MacRumors guess from the original 8X rumour.5/8x, it's right in the article with a link.
- 48-megapixel Telephoto camera with 8x optical zoom: An upgraded 48-megapixel Telephoto camera is rumored for the iPhone 17 Pro models, up from the 12-megapixel Telephoto camera on iPhone 16 Pro models. The camera may have a moving lens that offers both 5x and 8x optical zoom.

Some of guessed that this meant either the next tele might be a fixed lens with 48 MP sensor, providing 3.5X full / 7X crop, or else 4X full / 8X crop.
12 pro is a good choice.the dynamic island gimmick is old and time for a full screen. if they do that, plus the upgraded screen with the Anti-Reflective Display then maybe I'll dump my iPhone 12 Pro. other than that - it's another year with the "best iPhone ever made".
Agreed. I just can’t wrap this around my head. They did nothing but shout about how titanium is a huge upgrade with strength and light weight. Then they suddenly switch to to aluminium. I can only presume they’re doing it to cut costs because there’s no way aluminium is better than titanium. Can’t wait to see how they intend to sell this downgraded material. “It’s the best aluminium we’ve ever used”!It’s sad to call aluminum frame a new feature more like a downgrade on a premium product.
They probably will compare it with the 3GS when it was plastic.Agreed. I just can’t wrap this around my head. Exactly, and yes that’s what they mean.iPhones could do dual video recording for some time now. They introduced the APIs for it years ago.
Maybe they mean within the stock camera App?
You forgot how bad Apple handles it?Hehe you forgot about AI?
A surprise can always arrive with a new iPhone… like 2 FaceTime camsYou forgot how bad Apple handles it?
Their generative fill for Spatial Photos is barely good enough to fool the eye IMO. No way they can fill something like some weird angles during video.
Even if the ultra wide could record up to 180°, the front camera will never even get close to that, it’s just not possible.
I think the Aluminum Frames can be called a feature: lighter, less resource intensive to manufacture, better heat transfer. All are positive qualities. 👍🏻I can’t say that I think an “Aluminum Frame” is actually a feature. It’s a build material that may result in features such as a lighter phone, better heat transfer, etc…
You are probably right and I am being difficult. I agree that the things that it will deliver could be features for sure though.I think the Aluminum Frames can be called a feature: lighter, less resource intensive to manufacture, better heat transfer. All are positive qualities. 👍🏻
