I just want always-on / standby mode across all the models. I do not want to pay premium just for this, so, hoping…

5/8x, it's right in the article with a link.

Hmmm. AFAIK, the original rumour didn’t say 5X / 8X though. It said up to 8X. The 5X in the link provided to another MacRumors article seems to be from MacRumors guess from the original 8X rumour.

Some of us guessed that this could mean the next tele might be a fixed lens with 48 MP sensor, providing 3.5X full / 7X crop, or else 4X full / 8X crop.

Well, 5 or so weeks to go to find out ...
Meantime, happy speculating ;)

🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ I’ll be going from 16PM to 17PM. I upgrade every year through tmobiles jump program, I just pay tax on the new device and send in my old one. I’m mainly excited about vapor chamber cooling, I film a lot of video outside (skateboard clips) and my 16PM gets so hot and the screen dims to the point that I can’t see it.

Every year everyone is disappointed about the “new” features. I accept the fact that almost all new features are incremental upgrades, I still like having shiny new toys plus ANY camera improvements, so I’ll keep upgrading every year.

16 was the first generation I skipped, as it was so underwhelming compared to the 15PM. I suppose the camera upgrades and extra RAM are enough for me to make the jump to the 17 though. Looking forward to my first $1,500 phone...

I can’t say that I think an “Aluminum Frame” is actually a feature. It’s a build material that may result in features such as a lighter phone, better heat transfer, etc…

the dynamic island gimmick is old and time for a full screen. if they do that, plus the upgraded screen with the Anti-Reflective Display then maybe I'll dump my iPhone 12 Pro. other than that - it's another year with the "best iPhone ever made".
12 pro is a good choice.
For me its the 11 pro.
Classic design. Lightweight. Powerfull (for a smartphone)

It’s sad to call aluminum frame a new feature more like a downgrade on a premium product.
Agreed. I just can’t wrap this around my head. They did nothing but shout about how titanium is a huge upgrade with strength and light weight. Then they suddenly switch to to aluminium. I can only presume they’re doing it to cut costs because there’s no way aluminium is better than titanium. Can’t wait to see how they intend to sell this downgraded material. “It’s the best aluminium we’ve ever used”!

They probably will compare it with the 3GS when it was plastic.

iPhones could do dual video recording for some time now. They introduced the APIs for it years ago.

Maybe they mean within the stock camera App?
Exactly, and yes that’s what they mean.
It’s been showcased on stage during the iPhone X keynote that you could record multiple cameras in a third party app.

Hehe you forgot about AI?
You forgot how bad Apple handles it?
Their generative fill for Spatial Photos is barely good enough to fool the eye IMO. No way they can fill something like some weird angles during video.
Even if the ultra wide could record up to 180°, the front camera will never even get close to that, it’s just not possible.

A surprise can always arrive with a new iPhone… like 2 FaceTime cams

I think the Aluminum Frames can be called a feature: lighter, less resource intensive to manufacture, better heat transfer. All are positive qualities. 👍🏻

You are probably right and I am being difficult. I agree that the things that it will deliver could be features for sure though.

The 48MP telephoto sensor will be nice. I often take zoomed-in photos, but I also sometimes use zoom just to get a better look at things in the distance, so the increase in resolution from 12MP should (might?) make distant objects significantly clearer, at least when the iPhone actually uses the new 48MP telephoto sensor, which from what I understand requires using one of the lens's true optical zoom levels (like 5x), not at intermediate levels like 2x or 4x, where it uses and crops the output of the main 48MP camera. So maybe the improvement won't be huge.

Waiting to see the new 17 Pro Max. Hope there will be the rumored orange color. Will be very nice to have an improved front facing camera along with 48MP telephoto lens. Would like the zoom to be at least 5x. Dual video recording using the native app will be good.

I think I'll still use my 11pro. No "revolutionary" changes it seems plus there's no final Apple Intelligence. It may happen, that even 12GB phones would be "obsolete" when it comes out and some functions might not be available at all.
