Please let me disagree with my past self, and say that I take everything back about the beauty of 17pro series.

I have the silver now, and this is a good example of design that has been considered over several days/weeks/months.

I am only appreciating its beauty after having it myself daily for the last two days, instead of just in photos and Apple Store.

It’s not an immediate hit of “wow!”, but rather an understated design gesture that is beautiful in its simplicity.

(Say that in your best Jony Ive voice).

But seriously… the 17pros really are quite exquisite. (The black 18pro is going to be flabbergasting)

Searching through forums exactly for this thread.

I think the 17 Pro Max checks all the boxes especially considering the looming price increases. (Unknown as they may be)

I have 14pro, and would like:
- larger screen (for typing accuracy with larger wider keyboard, watching videos, and more screen real estate in general)
- 8x camera
- camera control button
- PWM toggle
- vapor chanber cooling
- and whatever other surprises come with a 3-year improvement.

But then again… I've been saving, and whats another $200 added on to an already $1200 device, to get the newest iPhone in September?

The colors on 18 Pros are so enticing 😩

If the 17pro was prettier this decision would be a lot easier.

AND this is also to say that the Air 2 in 2028 might be a very attractive device to buy! (But could always trade in the 17pro max for it)

Sigh. Apple is not making this purchasing decision easy, so hope to hear more of others’ thoughts as well!

(Last thought: i remember being SO happy with the 14pro purchase. White/silver was like the 4s i never got to have, or the silver 5s that I was jealous I didnt get instead of the black. These 17pro colors are just so BLAH. Though, its mostly because of the aluminum unibody. Dark blue is nice. The silver should reflect sunlight better though to help the phone stay cooler)

I'm not excited about it and might keep my Air at least until spring and see if an Air 2 is released, but normally I'd trade in for the latest Pro, but with my work phone being a 17PM, I feel I'm scratching that itch. It's a nice phone, but I'm sooo happy to put it down and pick up my Air at the end of the day, at least it doesn't give me hand cramps.

With all the talk in recent weeks about Apple’s price increases and the likelihood of the company rising prices on iPhones when the 18 Pro/Pro Max line is introduced, the 17 Pro/Pro Max has been looking more attractive.

Air is good if you can let go of the camera. The camera on the air is good for basic pictures and video but no fancy features.

The air IS enticing and very beautiful, it’s just that it doesn’t have the thermal cooling, which is very attractive to me in a phone used partly as a tool for work.

It’s going to sound weird, but I actually very quickly switched over to appreciating this industrial boring “for work” look of the 17 pro max.

I don’t worry about breaking it, and I know it'll last a long time. (Well, “hope” it’ll last a long time)

The design of the 17 Pro/ Pro Max took some time to grow on me, but once it came time for preorder, I was ready to order for launch day and I’ve been happy ever since. The battery life has been good compared to my 15PM. I o my charge once a day and the thermal cooling has been good as well compared to the 15PM. The blue titanium in my 15PM was boring after month in while my silver 17PM feels as fresh as launch day. I’m still not 100% sure I am going to upgrade to the 18PM on launch day. Pricing will play a very big role on whether I upgrade or not. I can see myself using my 17PM beyond a year.

I will be picking up a 2TB Deep Blue 17 Pro Max by next month but for different reasons. Nevertheless, this is the first 2TB iPhone

Nobody seems to be bothered about the very ugly design of the iPhone 17.

Worst decision made by Apple in my opinion.

And for a nearly $2000 phone, scratches really easily...

It doesn’t scratch as easily as people think. I go 99% without a case and only have a very small dent because I dropped my phone on a metal surface on in my truck, which also happens to be the same spot I’ve dropped my 15PM in countless times and also sustained a small dent, so that was inevitable to happen. Other than that, I do not have any blemishes on my phone. As for the design, that’s your opinion. Obviously the millions of people who have purchased the 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max think differently. People are still buying them today and the 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max are coming out around the corner.
