Specifically, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is expected to have…Beyond those differences, and overall size and weight, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are expected to have identical features and specs. Both devices are rumored to have an aluminum frame, a larger rear camera bump, an A19 Pro chip, 12GB of RAM, an upgraded 24-megapixel front camera, an upgraded 48-megapixel Telephoto camera that may offer up to 8× optical zoom, a new copper-like color option, and more.

Apple should announce the iPhone 17 series in about six weeks from now.

These updates have become incremental Apple won’t even compare them to last years model anymore. Just wait till September they will compare the new phones to models 2-3 years old.

Apple knows that not many (~10% in the US) update from year to year, so why bother advertising data to the average person that they don't care about?

There’s yet another advantage: Nobody will have a bigger iPhone than you (at least until next fall).

Good point. Not sure that’s why they used to do the same with laptops and now they always compare to a few modes older. I can’t imagine people use to upgrade their laptop every year.
