Let me write an on-topic post now! I don’t understand how these “advantages” are considered advantages, since they are just attributes inherent to the device, and the device you choose is about what feature profile you want. This is an unfortunate interpretation of these attributes. I am referring to the information in the article, which is topical regarding the article.

Hilarious.
Agree, but I think the point of this article wasn't so much pointing out these advantages as much as pointing out that Max won't have any 'real' advantages over the non-Max pro, and that's how I feel it should be. In some past years the Max also got a better camera which won't happen this year.

I agree that there shouldn’t be a distinction between the two pro models unless there is a hardware explanation for it (more space in the larger phone), but I don’t really think that’s the message here. I think something just had to be posted, and it’s insulting and not useful.

Apple's highest-end iPhone 17 Pro Max model may have three key advantages over the smaller iPhone 17 Pro model, according to rumors.

Specifically, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is expected to have…
Beyond those differences, and overall size and weight, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are expected to have identical features and specs. Both devices are rumored to have an aluminum frame, a larger rear camera bump, an A19 Pro chip, 12GB of RAM, an upgraded 24-megapixel front camera, an upgraded 48-megapixel Telephoto camera that may offer up to 8× optical zoom, a new copper-like color option, and more.

Apple should announce the iPhone 17 series in about six weeks from now.

Good to know, I almost missed that the Max has bigger screen.

In relation to the screen size the Dynamic Island is smaller on the max...doesn't take a genius to understand.

I must say I agree with your assuredly and evidently on-topic post that the ”key advantages” (to directly quote the article both in terms of subject matter and direct literary verbage) are inherent features of the device.

Moreover, whether they are advantages or not (key or otherwise) is highly subjective.

Though probably in the minority, I for one still consider the smaller size of my iPhone 13 mini to be a key advantage over all iPhones released since, because that’s what is important to me, but people will have their own views which may differ, of course so I’m very happy for anyone who has been desperate to hear news on these upcoming iPhone models and might want to consider how the size and battery life might alter their purchasing decisions, for example, because they might, just possibly, not have ever thought about it before, I suppose.

I just upgraded my 13 Pro Max to a 16 Pro Max. I have zero FOMO about the 17 Pro Max coming out next month. There's no features that are compelling enough for me to have held off for another month or two.

Why not an article today talking about how Microsoft hit a $4 trillion market cap? Apple is almost a trillion dollars short of Microsoft at the present time. Cook's got nothing for answer, including these iPhones that will deliver nothing groundbreaking in September. The shareholders must be sleeping at the wheel or something.

Which groundbreaking phones will Microsoft release this year?

Does that mean they are expected to identically start at 256GB storage this year? That would be awesome. Or is that not an "advantage" so much as just something we expect to be upcharged for in the regular Pro?

Yeah, it feels like a waste of an article to state the obvious differences that we get with every Pro/Pro Max model. Hopefully, there’s no other difference like with the camera in past models.
I think an unspoken point of this article was to say that there wouldn't be differences like the camera as we've seen before. I guess it would have been better said explicitly.

Still gonna wait until all the other 'new' features and tech are demonstrated through at least the Winter and Spring.
Especially if there is that 'solid state' side switches included ..., where I have no confidence that a switch that works with wool mittens will ever work with bare hands and fingers.

next up: "surprise orange color looks awful" post.

until it arrives and looks different to mockups and sells heaps...
I’m guessing it will be a muted orange color rather than the more vibrant orange that’s being shown in the mockups. I have a second generation shuffle that’s a vibrant orange and I would be surprised if that’s the orange color what we get.

i'd be guessing more copper orange given the metal treatment process.

almost every single mockup that looks awful is fine when reality comes around.

The 17 Pro Max is going to outdo the TARDIS--bigger on the inside and the outside.
