My RedMagic 11 Pro would like a word.

The last time I charged was Tuesday night 9-11PM (it is now Thursday at 8am) and I still have 31%. My SoT is over 6 hours.

My 17 Pro Max is crazy good. Easily outlasts my old 15 Pro Max.

I keep my phone at max charge 80% now and end my days (even heavy days) at 50%+.

17 has more efficient SoC than the pro series
This was my thought... the 17 Pro / Pro Max have more top end and consume more when pushed? I guess that makes sense.

The entire reason the Air uses the A19 Pro, instead of the A19 in the base 17, is because it's more efficient. So that's not the reason. Or the typical experience from most users when the base 17 and smaller Pro are used in a similar manner. It's impossible to properly judge the endurance of a device based on a 45 minute or 3 hour test anyway.

iPhone 13 Pro Max on iOS 15 was better.
My wife's iPhone 13 Pro Max at 4 years old was better than my 15 Pro Max at 2 years old. We both switched to 17 Pro Max and both experienced noticeable increases (as expected for a brand new battery). But yeah, the 13 Pro Max was just phenomenal with battery life.

Used Android for a couple years and it's definitive that Android is less efficient for standby and power use in general. It's been that way since the dinosaur age.
My S24+ SnapDragon was great on battery, best battery I ever had in a phone next to my 17 Pro Max. On work days I usually finish with around 60% with my 17, my S24+ would be around 50% maybe a little lower but that’s all on 5G.

iOS 15.x on iPhone 13 Pro Max was the peak of long battery life. As someone who used iOS 16.x on iPhone 14 Pro Max, I could say how I wish I went with the earlier model.

And we just throw batteries in the trash. Lithium-Ion batteries take hundreds if not a thousand years to breakdown in a landfill. Quit replacing your phones annually is a good way to help. Nobody is recycling despite what they tell you nobody will do it and I can send thousands of articles to explain that if needed When we shifted from the reuse part of the trifecta this is what we get.

The actual numbers:

And they recommend buying a cheaper last year’s model because the difference from last year is less than 1% on average.

... tests consistently have shown that iOS has gotten less efficient over the years despite larger batteries in newer phones.
I'm no expert in these things, but that doesn't seem to line up with what I've seen.

It's also interesting to note that CNET's observations don't appear to be entirely unique; the post I've linked above found much the same results through several years of models, in that the iPhone Pro Max battery consistently outlasts competitors with larger batteries.

Interesting article for me, since I moved from iphone to oneplus mainly because of poor battery time. And overnight I went from half-a-day battery life to 4 days.
That was many years ago. Models have changed, now I am on a flagship oneplus and a full charge is "only" 2+ full days. If an iphone does the same, that is really good news.
Oneplus still has the upper hand in my view, since the fast charge is phenomenal. If my oneplus goes under 10% at the wrong time, I just need 15 minutes of charge to feel confident it will keep running all day and more. Even charging it just the few minutes it takes to gather my other stuff and get dressed adds enough power to never get that battery anxiety I often felt with iphone.

Honor have released 2 phones now that have breached 10,000mAh battery sizes but they’re china only. Would love to see how those stacked up given the current winner of this has 7300mah.

My 14 Pro Max battery life is garbage but still better than Android.

Bull crap. My 12 Pro Max had great battery life for the time but the 17 Pro (not max) is substantially better. Bigger battery and more efficient processors. I leave work with 60% battery. I can’t imagine how great it is on the 17 Pro Max.
