This isn’t my iPhone 17 Pro, but I’m curious if more people have noticed misaligned backs on their new iPhone 17 Pro. It’s also mentioned in a review on YouTube.

Mentioned in this review:

I would be interested to know if the phone is made in India or China? Wasn't there a lot of quality issues with iphones last year with iphones coming in boxes stated made in India? And the indian workers not keeping up to standarts seen in chinese workers?
I think these are European models, not sure if they are made in India or China

My 17 pro max box says product of China. So i take it that mine was made in China?

I actually think that my Pro orange has this issue too, I just took a careful look at it. And I am very sure one site is a little bit of center. Why? Because my fingernail can fit in one site better than the other. I mean I dont really care that much because the phone is in the case, just wondering if that actually can become a real issue for hardware or something. 🤔 But yeah this shouldnt happen with a phone at that price point.

I noticed this at the store. When I drag my finger over the upper right corner of the back plate thingy, I can't feel anything and it's perfectly flush, but when I drag it over the upper left corner I can feel a bit of a ridge. People with OCD will not be enjoying this. Every Pro at the store had this, incredible.

I thought I had the same on mine, but I think it’s a tick of the light in the glass back. Turn the phone the other way round/look at it from the other direction and it will switch to the other side / the side you though was fine will now look like it has the gap.

They do look very cheap though, but I wanted to update due to the increased RAM. My 16 PM starts to lag when having too many Safari tabs opened and as a lawyer I need many opened simultaneously for my research.

Yes, I noticed the misaligned glass too. It's not a major issue but whenever I see a picture of the new Pro iPhone, that's the first thing I'm looking at lol

Mine (Silver Pro) also has it, first thing I noticed when I opened the box and looked the back.. not as bad as some pictures shown above but still, disappointing.. and no, it's definitely not a tick of the light, I can fill the gap with the finger.

Giving me Tesla panel gap vibes. Not what I expect from Apple at all.

Do we need to pull up the long threads about a gap between the metal rails and glass back over the last several iPhone generations?

This feels like another version of that. They’re mass produced devices. Some come out more perfect than others. You can play the lottery and exchange it — but then maybe you’ll end up with a worse issue

As widestload mentioned above, that looks like the direction of the lighting to me. Here’s a pic of my 17 Pro with a lamp aimed at the left and right side of the phone showing a similar appearance of a gap on whichever side the light is coming from.
Oh...so THAT is Liquid Glass...

So they’re trying to mimic the app icons on Liquid Glass then? 🙂

Edit: shoot, Shawn MacApple just beat me to this joke… 😉
