op was just reposting some online pictures about a non issue in September.Having taken many engineering classes, including CNC machining and CAD with GD&T, along with all those computer science and math classes, I’m always a bit worried about tolerances. But, surprisingly, it’s just off by a +/- 2 millimetres in alignment in the OP’s silver 17 pro pictures.
It’s more of a cosmetic issue, to be honest, and it shouldn’t be a big deal with how the iPhone cases fit or work. As long as the glue doesn’t come off and you don’t feel like the glass is going to fall, the MagSafe functionality should still be fine.
If it’s still bothering you, OP, you can exchange it at the Apple Store if it’s still within the return window (if you bought it this month until Christmas when holiday return policy started , you have until early January to return it). If it’s past that time, you can get that iPhone checked out at the Apple Store.
And if u really think a cnc manufactured phone has tolerances of +/- 2 millimetres i recon to do your classes again.
