Yep. Buy a new phone when your old one only really just needs a new battery to do everything you need, and as long as it’s ‘carbon neutral’ you can kid yourself you’re being environmentally aware. As an indictment of the human race, you can’t really do much better. Apple, like all consumer companies, absolutely wants, and needs, its customers to replace products regularly. So many products have built in obsolescence, and yearly incremental update cycles with the associated marketing to part us from our cash.
It’s all predicated on encouraging consumption. And then they have the brass neck to make out like it’s carbon neutral and won’t really matter!!!
I’m not preaching. I too buy new tech kit more regularly than I really need to. But just let’s not pretend it’s environmentally fine. It’s not.
