It depends which Nikon you use. Newer ones like Z50 seem a bit “digital” to my liking, but you can surely make pictures look better by choosing various profiles in settings (like natural, vivid) + tweaking settings, also Nikons are known to shoot weird photos in auto mode, but believe me: all Nikons shine in M mode, doesn’t matter older D series or newer Z, you just need to have viewfinder and look at exposure meter and it will make great shots.
As for 15 Pro or 16 Pro I have not so many objections. With photographic styles it seems to fix many problems without having to rely on ProRAW.
My comments about 17 Pro were about weird processing artifacts. As it turned out, it is definitely processing and maybe Apple even fixes it in next updates.
iPhones are still top choice when it comes to best pocket camera out there. Since point-and-shoots are dead, there isn’t much to choose from. Yes, there is indeed an RX100 with obsolete USB micro port and Sony pretends it is still fresh, but can one take this Sony into the forest in the midst of rain or snow to capture beauty of autumn and winter? Impossible. That’s when iPhone comes very handy
Don't want to be "that guy" but I've been using Nikon professionally since the F3 came out and own and have extensively used over 30 cameras from the Nippon Kogaku SP rangefinder with the epic 5cm f1.1 through Nikon F, D,Z and 1Nikon cameras so I feel fairly confident that I believe you that they shine in "M mode"...
I'm certain that it's a software problem since optically, the Apple cameras have gone from strength the strength over the years and it seems unlikely that they would regress camera quality while making the camera bump bigger.
