Since my iPhone shares duties as my personal computer, my work pager, my mobile access to EMR for work, emails, calendar, weather, media consumption, gaming, camera I will always go for the biggest display, most performance, best spec (other than SSD space as I manage that very tightly). Thus it’s Pro Max every upgrade. Look forward to 17 Pro Max this Friday.
Same here. My work life depends so much on my phone that I upgrade every year without fail - ever since the OG iphone.

feels like we've already seen this article on day of announcement, along with a few others currently up on the front page.

People are forgetting the new Pro has an 8x optical zoom. This is a huge jump for those who have a 3x lens on the 14 Pro.

Not exactly true. The new pro optical zoom is actually lower than the 16 at 4x. 8x is cropped from the 4x image. The higher megapixel sensor makes up for it, but the marketing hasn't been clear.

Curious to hear from others that have moved from Pro to Pro Max... Did you stay with a Max for your next hardware update or did you revert back to a Pro? What have been the pros/cons of your Max experience? Thanks.
I upgrade to the 15 Pro Max and am going back to the Pro for the 17. The screen size difference is minimal, but the size in my pocket is noticeable. I have plenty of other options for larger screens when needed.

For once, happy to see no camera differences. That’ll probably come next year with the 18 Pro Max. Seems to be every 3rd year (12 Pro Max, 15 Pro Max).
I thought the 17 pro got a bigger camera sensor (sure I read 56% somewhere) this year.

Couple of tests I’ve seen look like better fine detail and less noise as you’d expect.

From a camera point of view it’s a solid update over the 16 pro, so can’t wait to see a video comparison.

The 14pro has a 12MP Sensor on the 3x lens. The 17pro has a 48mp sensor with a centre crop to 12MP at 8x . So there is still a huge difference.

my favourite part of this article was near the end " ‌iPhone 17 Pro‌ and ‌iPhone 17 Pro‌ Max is undoubtedly screen size, but comfort, pocketability, weight, and battery life are also important considerations that will depend based on your personal needs and preferences" --- Iphone Air reporting for duty....

Since the Pro line landed, I have only ever selected the Pro. After many pre-orders spent hovering over Pro Max, this cycle I finally opted to see what a year with a Max is like.

I’ve always used the pro max. Having said that, the 17 pm may just be too big and heavy. I have problems now with the 15 pm falling out of my shorts back pockets!

And even though the pro is smaller when compared to my phone 15 pm it’s not that much smaller. It’s certainly noticeably smaller than the 17 pm but again that’s not what I’m coming from so I’ll only notice that big a difference when I see them side by side at the Apple Store.

Dang... Pocket fit and that I also have larger screens (iPad Mini, MBA, etc.) for when/if needed has been my hesitation all along. I think my older eyes might hav won out this round. Ha. Oh well, I have a year to check it out.

Spoiler alert: It's the same as last year's phone.
If the PWM toggle works as many, including myself, hopes it does, then this is most definitely not the same as last years phone. It is a HUGE, monumental step forward, which might at last enable individuals adversely affected by the horrendous OLED flickering to actually finally use a flagship phone again.

Looking for a decent write up about 17 and 17 Pro differences.
2x vs 8x camera, lidar for autofocus, a bit extra battery, USB2 vs USB3.x, but that 50% more RAM might be a game changer if I'm again holding on to the phone for seven years (Upgrading from a XS, and contemplating the price)

Yes, 17 Pro and Pro Max received a new camera sensor for the telephoto camera.

Still see no reason to replace my 13 Pro Max. Got a new battery instead. Hopefully there's some real innovation next year.
What “innovation” are you looking for? I see this kind of comment all the time, and I’m interested in what it is that people want? A folding phone? Honestly, what doesn’t the iPhone do that you need? I think most people barely tap into what these pocket computers are capable of doing.

17 Pro might be the ugliest iPhone ever but its build functionality being first priority
Was the 16 a good looking design….?

Looked like a every previous iPhone for the last 4 years to me.

I welcome the new design and love the industrial design vibe that marries form with function. Future classic?

You will absolutely hate it. It’s comically looking big and heavy. Phablet….

I wasn't going to upgrade my 16 pro max until i saw the deals on att. I was able to upgrade and save $34 a month. That's crazy.
You saved nothing because you are locked in and if you want to upgrade again. You must pay the difference owed. How is that saving? Unless you are riding it out the next 3 years. But, you sound like a yearly upgrader?!?

What a weird headline and article. "8 differences compared" seemed to imply that there were actual feature differences between the two. It's a 500 word article to basically say "the are the same, just different sizes". Literally the only functional difference that exists is the Pro isn't available in 2TB.

What did the prompt look like for this article? Stuff keywords in and reach some minimum length in the absence of substance?

Why not take the opposite tact and write an actual article about the change this year of no differentiation?

This article is arguably a waste of time to read.

I’ve been on the pro max since they arrived, I’m never going smaller. I like em big! 👍🏻
