I got the 16e from them for half off a month after it released but it was a hassle because I only wanted the phone, not their service. They changed their terms retroactively forcing me to pay for another month of service before the phone would unlock. When I bought the phone the unlock policy was “60 days after activation” but on April 1 of all days it changed to “after 60 days of paid service”.I'm sure you're right and also that I'm just old/weird, but this is crazy to me. It's a computer, buy the computer and get the internet access. You don't buy a TV from the broadcast company, or lights from the electric company. Or even worse, essentially lease on contract.
Yeah, I know people even older than me probably literally did that, which also goes to show how weird and antiquated this idea is.
