iPhone 18 should be full screen. this gimmick is old already.
I thought it would be a gimmick until I got a phone that has it. It truly is a way of turning a negative into a positive that goes far beyond lemonade.

Compared to helping my mom with her motorola with a pinhole camera, I miss the feedback DI provides.

It makes face ID more intuitive, it makes using the flashlight better, it makes using so many things better. The control center may duplicate some of what shows in DI, but the immediate access to what is running is valuable.

Or you know - MAGSAFE. the one feature that became standard and then dropped. For people that really just want a fancy ipod touch that might make one or two calls a month - they really don’t know how to deliver a smaller form product anymore.

It is a rumor and right now I don’t see the need for the Dynamic Island as the notch works for what this phone is. My wife loves her 16E and is fine for what it is. As if now all it can be done is wait and see. I actually rather see a 120 hz screen.

So it’ll be the iPhone 15 chassis and screen. Plus an action button, a19 chip & new main camera.

…And MagSafe?

Honestly they might still miss it out, as people with pacemakers can’t risk using an iPhone otherwise.

Just as long as they provide MagSafe case integration I guess.

At some point the only thing the Pro has got going for it is the 3rd lens.
The Pro only exists so Apple can have bigger margins. The things the put in the Pro phone barely change the cost. Just a few dollars difference. The iPhone e and the regular have small margins for Apple so the put a few fancy things on the Pro to upsell you to the Pro phones. New design will be the next differentiator for the "Pros" or whatever the next name will be.

Heavier costs more! We pay by the gram for the pros…

I almost feel a single, slightly larger bezel at the top of the phone that holds the array of sensors etc would be better than having a Dynamic Island or notch inside the screen. Also they could somehow build it into the top of the chassis. This way the screen is unobstructed at all times. It would make the phone taller by a couple of mm but I'd sacrifice that for a full screen view personally.
full width status bar is so useful. There is the carrier name (useful for detecting roaming), activity indicator, rotation lock, alarm clock, (formerly) Bluetooth, and other indicators visible at a glance without needing to open control enter

Owner of an iPhone 17 Pro here. I prefer the notch. Neither the island nor the notch is ideal, but the notch is less intrusive.
I prefer neither.

Yet I also understand what many miss or overlook talking about. Both the notch and Dynamic Island also serve as styling cues to make it instantly recognizable as an iPhone.

Notice the recent appearance of the notch on MacBook laptops. Apples narrative brags about the components that reside in the notch, but that notch also makes said laptops immediately recognized as Apple computers.

Apple is supremely clever and master marketers, they know exactly what they are doing.
