iPhone 17e screen cracked

My husband somehow cracked the screen a few days after getting his new phone. I had forgotten to add AppleCare, but realized we have ATT protection. I submitted a claim and instead of replacing the screen they will be sending a phone to him. I’ve never dealt with this before. Looks like may be refurbished phone? Just wondering if others have had this happen and used ATT protection.

I’ve never used Carrier or third-party insurance programs for my iOS devices before. However, if you opt for AppleCare Express replacement, they might use a new model or an Apple-certified refurbished version of the iPhone, depending on the generation.

Older generations are more likely to be refurbished models.
