They won't. There's GDPR in the EU, and the fines are terrible! 🙂

Up to €10 million or 2% of global annual turnover (whichever's higher) for less severe breaches like record-keeping failures, and up to €20 million or 4% of global annual turnover (whichever's higher) for serious infringements such as violating core data principles, consent rules, or data subject rights, with fines often reaching billions across the EU for major companies.

TC: The Master of Dripfeeding!

Imagine trying to explain to someone why this phone couldn’t have a 120hz display when Android phones a fraction of the price do, haha.
I have a cheap friend who bought one of these "cheap android phones" with 120hz display.... The damn thing lagged so much and was so stuttery due to the processor not being able to run bloated android well. At the end of the day it didn't matter what the refresh rate is, it was still a crappy experience

I've been saying this for years, glad Apple's narrative has caught up to reality. Finally people say things like "stuck at 60Hz" instead of "high refresh rate" for the now standard 120Hz. Even the most budget of Android phones have been at least 90Hz for years.

And once again the e series makes absolutely zero sense. Where are they even finding 60Hz panels in 2026?

I had an iPhone 15 pro that I accidentally dropped and cracked the screen. I didn’t wanna spend 1k on another phone so I replaced it with an iPhone 16e and I actually love it a lot more than the 15 pro.
The battery life is MUCH better (lasts all day) and it’s also a lot lighter so holding it while I’m laying in bed is a lot more comfortable.

Yes I do kinda miss the optical zoom cameras but I pretty much just use it to take pics of my cat so it’s not that big an deal. I know it’s only 60hz vs 120hz and some people say they couldn’t to back to 60hz but to be honest I hardly notice the difference. Yes it’s missing wireless charging but I’ve always just used a fast (20w) usb charger so that doesn’t matter to me either.
The new modem works great don’t notice any difference in reception vs Qualcomm in 15 pro.

TBH I’d probably get the 16e if it was the same price as the 15 pro (can’t comment on 16 pro haven’t used it) but the fact that it’s almost half the price seems like a no brainer for my use case anyways. Will probably upgrade to another e someday when I want to upgrade again.
a relatively normal post. Are you sure you meant to post it ? No mention of steve jobs rolling in his grave, or extreme views on how it's 'impossible' to use a phone with less than '120hz' refresh or 86x optical zoom. I'm impressed.

Tim really loves reusing parts and just copying and pasting features from higher end phones and trickling them down. He probably has an excel sheet that he gets and he just copies and pastes one cell from one column to another...

...but he has mentioned that he delegates all that stuff...so what exactly is he doing other than hosting meetings? Whom is actually coming up with the direction (even high level) Apple should be heading? Is he just using the "Apple comes later but does it better" as an excuse to just react to the market?

I also have a 16e and like it. Cost me $300 total from Walmart after paying 2 months of service for it to unlock. Quite an improvement from my 12 mini. It’s like 5x the battery life.

They probably hobbled it by design to push anyone (consumer side) to the regular 17. Corporates buying this for staff won't care. Over charging though for its spec at £/$ 599.
Its great that iphones have super fast processors , but most people won't notice any difference from an iphone even 2 yrs older. It will be hobbled with just 8Gb as well so future AI stuff will be limited. (Maybe that's a good thing for some !!)

They need to get this back to $449 or $499 to be a true budget competitor. It just lacks too many features for only a $100 price difference from the flagship (normalizing for storage quantity, i.e. 256GB or 512GB).

As it should since this is the cheapest iphone in the line up

I am sure that Apple approves of your sentiment and support; however, there is a reason Apple, after all these years, still has less than 30 percent of the world's cellphone market and, after 50 years, still has less than 10 percent of the PC market.

Apple Arrogance. Of course, customers accepting less for more money also works.

60hz as stupid as it is… in 2026.
What’s more embarrassing is that Apple display line including iMac are all sporting 60Hz while the competition is sporting 144Hz is not up to 600+ Hz and Apple has the face to charge higher and also claim to focus on gaming. I mean where does one even start other than deducing that Apple is delusional.

I have to wonder how many corporations buy iPhones in bulk to hand out to staff. The company I retired from left the iPhone in the dust and moved to Samsung and Android. We wanted access to the code so our programmers or outsourced programmers could build company-specific programs, tools, and security measures.

Only a few people in marketing/advertising/sales were permitted to use Apple computers or other devices. Desktop PC's were Windows-based unless you were in that advertising group. At that time, we had around 117,000 employees, but not all employees had a company-provided phone.

I find it dubious that companies are buying pallet loads of Apple cellphones to hand out to their employees.
