Got my iPhone 17pro about 3 weeks and it’s been perfect. ( I replaced an iphone 15 pro)

I just went on a roadtrip and had the phone plugged into my car charging and using Waze for gps. (I have done this countless times with my 15pro and other iPhones)
At 80% charge it suddenly said charging stopped due to overheating and it actually felt warm to the touch.
I stopped charging and thought it was an anomaly, maybe the sun hit it.
Next day I was driving again and had it plugged in to my car and using Waze and then started streaming Apple Music and the phone got hot again!

What’s going on!?!?
I’ve don’t this tons of times on my 15pro and it never got hot or gave me an overheating message.

Anyone else seen this issue?!?

Waze typically makes my phones get warm (not hot), including my 15 Pro Max and 17 Pro Max.
My best assumption is that your 17 Pro charges quicker as the 17 series are capable of even faster charging than the 15 Pro, and this maybe creating more heat.

It is my best assumption looking at this:
