”You are holding it wrong”It should have a half-press like a real modern shutter button, and be easier to fully click. It’s too easy to move the phone when pressing it.

No, but based on the rumor there’s a possibility that they remove it from the base iPhone 18 but not from the Pro.Is that a pro-only feature? On 16 standard and all I manage is to adjust the frikking tone when i by accident hold down too long.

They should just call it the “selfie button” — that’s the main reason it existsIt’d be great if it was a proper knurled camera-like button, half press down to change modes/operations then scroll settings. As is its virtually impossible to operate although I use it all the time simply to open the camera.
Can you elaborate a little? I honestly considered upgrading from my 15 Pro Max for only this feature... I thought it would be a game changer to have the DSLR-esque approach to half-click metering before taking a photo...The idea was great. The execution less so.

It seems to me that people who often complain about its presence don’t even know how the camera key works. I loved having a dedicated shutter key on phones like my Lumia 930, and I’m liking it on the iPhone 16 too. I set mine up to behave like a two-stage shutter, so it’s perfect for me. But every time any phone gets a feature I like, the “general public” whines it out of existence (just like with Face Unlock on Pixels).
