At this point unless you go years between upgrades, it's hard to tell much of a difference in processor performance. Especially for general every day use aside from gaming.

In summary, iphone 18 pro will have A20 chip. After that, iphone 19 pro will use A21, iphone 20 pro A22 and so on…

Interesting to see how and what the fold's are about.
Can they be a substitute for the mini?

I won't buy 1st gen anyway though - my mini go nowhere for now.

How to get one of the very first foldable iPhone for a low price:

If you put your iPhone 16e in your back pocket of your jeans and forget to put it out before sitting down, your 16e will get at once foldable !!! 😁

If they’re going to rename their OSes to match the current year such as iOS 26, they should rename their chips to A26, etc. And while they’re at it, name the phone the iPhone 26 as well! Will clear up a lot of consumer confusion. They should do similar with the iPad and Mac lines, as having generation numbers is confusing to consumers. Although honestly if they just renamed the chip itself, since they often identify things like Macs by the chip, that would also work. Everyone would know that the MacBook Pro with M26 came out in late 2025 and was available for sale for much of 2026. Although it gets kinda weird if they update the Mac earlier in the year, like January 2026, and name the chip the M27, but maybe they wouldn’t because it would be based off of the M27 that came out in 2026, idk.
I think Apple should rename the entire company every year--Apple 26, Apple 27, etc.

Why do people care about a folding phone? Who wants to have an additional step when pulling your phone from your pocket?

What did last years rumors prior to the 16 say about this years model, do they still stack up?
See yourself:

They would risk people buying an iPhone 26 in fall 2026, thinking it’s the newest one.

All that matters to me is a bigger battery. Unless the 17 is so good it doesn’t stink, I’ll keep my 15 Pro another year.

Expecting to see the 2nm chip next year. Also eagerly waiting to hear more about the foldable device. Both these phones should be very nice devices.
