If they use the same matte black as on my 17e, I think you'd be happy with it. It's definitely black, not midnight blue or dark gray, but we never know from year to year.

Me too, but the blue seems like a nice light color that can pass for either silver or blue. If I were getting one of these iPhones, I would be happy with the light blue as I really like my Deep Blue iPhone 17 PM but also admire the silver version as well. Honestly the blue and silver iPhone 17 Pro/Max's remind me of the Game Boy Advance SP colors lol.

iPhone 18 Pro colors could include Dark Cherry, Sky Blue, and Black, with a Silver option unlikely to make the final lineup, according to the leaker known as "Fixed Focus Digital."
In a new post on Weibo, the leaker "Fixed Focus Digital" said the iPhone 18 Pro has entered full mass production and predicted a slightly different color lineup from what previous rumors have suggested, featuring Dark Cherry (also referred to as Burgundy), Sky Blue, and Black.
The leaker said a Silver option will "most likely" not be offered, adding in a reply that they have not seen evidence of that color's existence in China. If accurate, the lineup would mean Apple is replacing all three iPhone 17 Pro colors with new options for iPhone 18 Pro, rather than carrying Silver over as many earlier reports had suggested.
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman first described the iPhone 18 Pro's main new shade as "deep red." A Macworld report later called it "Dark Cherry," and said the other colors would be Light Blue, Dark Gray, and Silver.
Weibo leaker "Instant Digital" said Apple may skip black, then described Dark Cherry as a mix of burgundy, coffee, and deep purple. Dummy models from Sonny Dickson showed Dark Cherry, Light Blue, Black, and Silver, while SIM tray photos showed Dark Cherry with Light Blue and Dark Gray.
The rumors point to Dark Cherry replacing Cosmic Orange as the signature Pro color, with Light Blue or Sky Blue, Silver, and Black or Dark Gray also possible. Black remains uncertain, after Apple reportedly considered black and steel gray for the iPhone 17 Pro before dropping both.
Apple's iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to be unveiled at the company's September event next week, alongside the company's first foldable iPhone, dubbed the "iPhone Ultra."

Torras doesn't have anymore knowledge than the rest of us have. They rely on mostly leaks, just like us.
The bean counters are at it again at Apple. Rotating the black color among models and years, to steer folk's buying decisions.

I've been enrolled in iUP since it launched. So I'm planning to continue the tradition of swapping out my device in a couple of weeks for an 18 PM via Apple Upgrade. But my eye is on a Spring Air 2 situation. When I first held iPhone Air in my hand, I was pretty blown away. It felt like the future of handhelds. We'll see if a second camera and better battery will be enough to move me from a three-cam PM. I doubt it. But I reeeeally like the in-hand feel of the Air.

I’m coming from the 16PM so I’m due through my carrier. I’m going with the blue as well. It didn’t appeal to me at first but it grew on me and I really don’t need the cherry red “look at me” color.
The 16PM has been a good phone. It does have thermal dispersement issues and gets hot fairly easily. And of course I’m looking forward to the new camera.
So if I gotta be up at 3 am on launch day so be it. I’m usually up at 3 am anyway.
Waiting to see the dark cherry and blue. Black will definitely be a popular choice among many. Silver, hopefully will not be removed.
I keep my phone in a black case 99.9% of the time (except when cleaning it). The only time the phone's color mattered to me was on the iPhone 4 and 5 and subsequent white/black front bezel releases, where the front bezel was prominent. I will say, the blue color does look nice.
