I don't know about others here but iPhone on cellular is just horrible. I have the 17 Pro on Tmobile and also a Z Fold 7 on Tmobile. The cellular performance between the 2 is day and night. This has always been the case even before the C-series modems. And call dropping on the iPhone is terrible. It has gotten to the point where I have to forward calls from the iPhone to the Z Fold. At this point, I keep the iPhone for iMessage and the Apple Watch which is still second to none.

There is nothing new to innovate when it comes to cellphones. They are all commodity items at this point. "It folds" is the best we've got. Congratulations, Apple. You did it!

In my eyes, this is pointless. They should just release new phones every two years. There is no significant innovation in these to make them worth buying. I have an iPhone 15 Plus, and I don't feel the need to get a new one. This is not 18. it is more like 17s 😀

I keep thinking that this is the year I update my 12 Pro Max, but each year I am just nonplussed by the offerings. Maybe the 2026 iPhone Event will finally crack open my wallet, but the rumors just aren't hooking me.

I’m tired of having the last Lightning device in the house; I’m making the move, and going Max as well.
Honestly this might be one of my primary drivers as well. I hate having Lightning and USB C chargers in the cars and around the house just because I won't upgrade until I see a functional/technical reason for me to. I suppose is iOS 27 drops support for my 12PM I will finally meet that bar.

Feature 11: it is gonna be about as useless as 17,16, 15 or any other iPhone and gonna be 1000 years behind what Android has been offering for so many years.

Oh btw, is camera going to be as blurry as it is in 17 Pro? I doubt variable aperture can help since they cannot even bring adequate lens designs

I had planned on upgrading this year from my 14 Pro Max due to battery life. I didn’t realize the 20th anniversary was next year. Now I think I should just get the battery replaced and wait until next year. What to do? 🤷🏻‍♀️

That's interesting– anyone else with these issues? My GF has the iPhone 16 Pro on Tmobile but she doesn't experience any of that.

No, no, no-- a quad edged display is the best they've got 🥲

You forget that if they release iPhones every two years, they miss out on profit to direct to R&D for their yearly releases.

I'll let that one sink in... 🤣

"Features" 🤣

new colours 🤣

cheaper camera control 🤣

frosted back glass 🤣

smaller Dynamic Island 🤣

is this how bad its got that we accept these as "features" and not just basic stuff ffs.

Apple have been drip feeding for nearly 8 years now, the Air is the only thing they've attempted to do something different with.
I have reached a point in tech where the only real reasons to upgrade are my phone being as slow as molasses and the battery lasting 30 minutes. They have run out of real improvements to offer, at least for the time being. AI isn’t it and these mediocre improvements are really only useful if coming from a much older device.

This is my upgrade year and I'm pretty happy about the new features in the 18. Going for the Pro with 512GB option. With Verizon giving me $830 some dollars for my 15 Pro, it's kind of a no brainer.
Gross. Carrier deals are not real deals and sucker deals. To each their own.

Smaller Dynamic Island: It has been rumored that Face ID's flood illuminator will be moved under the screen on the iPhone 18 Pro models, paving the way for a smaller Dynamic Island on the devices.
It's also possible, even likely, that the IR camera that receives the IR light from the flood illuminator and the dot projector will be moved under the display, especially since a leaker posted a photo some months ago showing such a front-facing camera rearrangement prototype assembly made by Apple. The flood illuminator part of the assembly is relatively small, so to get a significantly smaller Dynamic Island cutout, more than that might need to be under the display.

The 18 Pro will no doubt be a good iPhone. Think the 17 Pro users need not upgrade. Don't know whether these rumored colors will be final. Would like the cherry color to be bright and bold like the Orange 17 Pro/Pro Max.

Don’t forget- it will feature iOS 27!!!

I’m on the iPhone Upgrade Program. Right now I think I’m going to do the 18 Pro in Dark Cherry, skip upgrading next year, and then get the iPhone Fold 3 in 2029 once they’ve worked out any issues and hopefully it has telephoto by then. Then I’ll pass the 18 Pro down to my daughter for her first phone. She’ll be 14 in 8th grade then, and she loves purple, and that’s close.

Unless the Fold just blows me away? Could always get her an E iPhone later. But money is getting tight this year. Less people are hiring web development since 1. They say their nephew can just make them a site in an hour with Claude, 2. Google violated the social contract with the web and is replacing websites with AI results, and 3. The economy is contracting because of the straight being closed. In stealth mode right now on a new startup with some guys in an AI-resistant industry, hopefully it pans out. Things are about to get very interesting, as the curse goes.

I'll definitely be getting an 18 Pro, but the baby blue and dark cherry colours are horrible. I have cosmic orange for my 17 Pro and I've seen hundreds of them around. I cannot imagine these dreadful colours will be anywhere near as popular. Guess I'll be going boring silver.
  • Dark Cherry: The special color for the iPhone 18 Pro models will reportedly be Dark Cherry, alongside Light Blue, Dark Gray, and Silver. The existing Cosmic Orange and Deep Blue colors are expected to be discontinued.

It's a no from me, waiting for the 20th year iPhone next year, had the iPhone X at the 10th year. Also, my iPhone 16 Pro Max 512 has been my best iPhone ever. So got to be special to make me upgrade. The new iFold coming, too expenisve and best to wait until the third version when any problems will be sorted.

Thin gruel again this year. Apple providing the bare minimum again. Because they can. Camera is probably the best improvement of the bunch.
Do you expect lightyear advancements every year? Most people hold on to their phones for at least 3 years. By then, all the small improvements add up.
