10 grams/0.3 OZ is not something 99% of the people reading this article could or would notice.

If it makes someone that unhappy next year, there are options within Apple. This is much ado about nothing and a great excuse to rile up the troops.

We really need an iPhone Ultra.

If it mirrors the essence of the Watch Ultra, sure; raised lip around the screen, extra deep water protection, similar ruggedness, etc.

As for the weight, well, my 16 Pro is as heavy as I want to carry. I'll downgrade to regular or e model before raising the weight....and before the snarky comments about going to gym...I do, regularly...I just don't like heavy phones.

The 17 Pro Max is already too big and bulky for daily driver usage imo. So the 18 Pro Max is automatically a non-starter for me if this is true.

And it's absolutely WILD that an aluminum iPhone, one of the lightest metals around, is going to be heavier than the the stainless steel ones from years past... But I guess Apple is doubling down on the "Pro" moniker and going full on utilitarian moving forward.

Just commit to the bit and make it 3/4" thick already. Make the cameras flush. Oh, it'll weigh a full pound? Perfect.

“Apple has "figured out" that making iPhones thinner and lighter doesn't necessarily make them more attractive to consumers”

I hope this isn’t Apple’s only line of thought. After all the thin and light MacBook Air and iPad Pro are doing well.

Is more price/value proposition problem if you ask me.

Not that I’m complaining about the 17PM battery life because it’s damn impressive but it won’t hurt to have a bit more so make it thicker if needed. lol

The weight difference between the mini 12 and mini 13 is noticeable, which is almost the same weight difference percentage-wise than for the Pro Max here.

+1.

im in the UK and although I still use a physical sim card, would gladly switch to eSIM if it meant getting a bigger battery like they have in the US.

not to be too critical, but this need for bigger screens may drive some portion of the iPhone market to carry around 'boombox' size phone on their shoulders, I find this image to be hilarious
So they would have a chip on their shoulder then. ;)

Having just walked around a phone store in Thailand, all I can say is you don’t need to make a phone heavier to have a larger screen and no camera bump. Apple has lost the plot. Almost every Chinese phone there (and there were many) had a larger screen than the max and was super easy to hold. I picked up the 17 pro max at the end and it was the heaviest and bulkiest by far. Give me plastic if that is the difference, I don’t care, they looked great and didn’t feel like a brick.
