Except if it applies to the 18e. Kuo does say that “The ultra-wide CIS supplied by Samsung is expected to be adopted first in mid- to low-end iPhone models.”In a follow-up post this weekend, however, Kuo said he now expects the first iPhone models with Samsung's sensor to be released in 2027. In other words, this rumor seemingly now applies to some iPhone 19 models, instead of iPhone 18 models.
From exclusive supplier to making chips in Texas, probably a choice to appease the administrationLast month, Apple announced Samsung would supply it with iPhone chips manufactured in Texas. According to the Financial Times, the chips in question are three-layer stacked image sensors, which enable higher pixel density and improved low-light performance by vertically stacking multiple sensor layers. Stacked sensor architecture has other benefits too, including higher dynamic range and reduced power consumption.
Sony has long been the exclusive supplier of image sensors for iPhone cameras, so Samsung entering the fray would be notable, whenever that may happen.
That may be only 5 years from now!meh. i’ll wait for iphone 31
Sony is expensive.I do not know what is Apple’s obsession to ditch Sony over Samsung lenses. Hopefully when they go with samsung lenses they take full advantage of the software to improve the image quality of Samsungs dodgy lenses.
Only if the iPhone 18e receives an Ultra Wide camera.Except if it applies to the 18e. Kuo does say that “The ultra-wide CIS supplied by Samsung is expected to be adopted first in mid- to low-end iPhone models.”
Because of physics, they can manage horizontal space for 3 cameras with different focal length. but cannot fit 35mm lens as phone would have to be designed as thick as point n shoot camera. Why not one proper size sensor with >35mm lens instead of three cameras? Why sacrifice so much of main camera quality for other two cameras that are used much less?
Is it impossible to imagine that Samsung will manufacture something new or different? I'm not sure we should compare what they offer today to what they will in a few years for a different client.Gn5 is great
I haven't followed the latest development but last I checked , you're right, for the same specs Sony trumped Samsung sensors
Also they should use glass instead of plastic . Idk why they're being so cheap ( actually I do know but yeah)
