I just don’t use it enough I fear. Maybe I should and become a “pro” with it. I just feel I can do it on screen better.

Photographers who are fussy about the photographs they make. As opposed to people who take snapshots. There's a huge difference.
Eh, I'm a trained photographer and I like to obsess over the details, but that's MUCH easier to do on the giant touch screen. The Camera Control is more annoying than anything because it's so finicky, and pressing it rocks the phone enough to make some photos blurry.

I've never suffered from that. It works great for me.

Please remove it and make the phone cheaper. Who uses this button?
It does not work like that for Apple. They deliberately introduce new hardware functions to justify price hikes, to later jinx them and keeping the higher price increase.

Profit gains geniuses.

Example: Homepods. Latest generation has old wifi chips and reduced speaker and microphones versus first on market.

Hopefully this simplified button is easier and CHEAPER for case manufacturers to fully support without just leaving a cutout for the button.

Looking at iPhone 17 Pro Max cases, it looks like there is still HUGE variability in case support for camera control. Most of my favorite case options have been ruined by this button.

I use it occasionally. What I'm concerned about is that if Apple is going to cheapen the camera control button hardware next year that software limitations will then cheapen existing fully featured camera control buttons on the 16 and 17 series.

Tzzz who cares about an iPhone 18 with such a downgraded camera button. The camera button on my 17 pro is so much more „advanced“ 😅😅

I don't get all the hate when it comes to this button. I use it all the time, it 's great to instantly launch the camera, to zoom, fix focus and take a photo. It's a great upgrade on the previous volume button solution.

One change I would make is to make the UI visible when it's held landscape rather than having to light press the control.
I don't tend to use it on my 16 PM tbh and find it difficult to reach when trying to grip the phone. When I have tried it out, I've found it fiddly and introduces camera shake when pressing it. I do use the button to launch AI search though and thats the only real thing I use it for.

I would love if they had put a proper shutter button, that felt and functioned just like the shutter button you get on a camera (half press to focus).

What they put instead is over-engineered nonsense.

And it's in the wrong location. They should have put it a couple of cm down, so it can be pressed without your fingers blocking your view of the screen.

As long as they improve the button I’m happy. Camera Control is a great idea and works well but needs to be improved.

It’s not as intuitive and responsive as it should be, and it needs to be placed lower in a more comfortable spot for landscape control.

I never cared enough to get used to it as all it's functionality is literally right there on the screen ... Press, longer press, harder press, swiping like what and I am supposed to remember what does what?

Can't even use it as a shutter button because the button is so awkwardly places, it makes the end results blurry cuz I end up moving the phone slightly while pressing it.
