So i received an old iphone 1st gen from a friend. dont know the story never asked i was just given it.

When i plug it in via usb the apple logo turns on for a few seconds then turns off and nothing happens after that

i also hold the sleep and home button and the same thing happens, apple logo turns on then turns off and no reaction after that

i was thinking of going to the apple store but i doubt they'll replace or fix it for me. the phone was bought on the day the iphone first came out. although im AT&T it's not originally my phone.

any ideas how to fix it? or shall i just hop over to the apple store?

thanks

Can you put it into DFU mode and restore it?

Restoring is the only thing I can think of, other than that Apple store is the place to go.
