a. group
b. group secret

To connect?

I use group and group secret then my account id/password with the iPhone VPN client. We do not use tokens with our VPN concentrator.

hopefully, we'll have an unlock for this by the time this update is released... unless we're now waiting on this release.

anyway good to know they're already testing this in the wild.... i guess.

Update = Mail fixes?

I've got my fingers crossed hoping there will be an update soon that automatically updates subfolders in an IMAP or Exchange account with one "refresh."

Currently I have to visit EVERY subfolder and refresh individually to see if there are any new messages. I have LOTS of rules and subfolders associated with my Exchange account. To have to refresh each one separately significantly diminishes the usefulness of Exchange support.

My guess is we are looking at bug fixes, does it not drive anyone else nuts when you go to the phone or contacts app and it is locked for a few seconds before you can scroll around???

I thought I was the only one having this problem because I couldn't find any information about it online.

Check your Apps

My guess is we are looking at bug fixes, does it not drive anyone else nuts when you go to the phone or contacts app and it is locked for a few seconds before you can scroll around???

I experienced this on my wife's phone, when I had Jirbo Break installed.

As soon as I uninstalled it from the phone, it was just like ever. No lags noticable.

So I guess maybe you should delete all Apps from the phone. Then restart with one app at a time, and maybe you'll find that App, that is causing your lag on the phone.

I expect this update will have the obvious bug fixes. Although, I am quite happy with 2.0, there is no question that its a bit rough around the edges and probably not complete.

The other thing I kind of expect is possibly more minor or small features that were in the 2.0 code, but too unstable for launch. I'm sure there was a point of no return where they had to simply cut out anything that was a deal breaker in order to make the deadlines.

Either way, just like anything Apple does it will get better with time. Look how long Leopard has been out and we are already at its 5th release. I think its pretty obvious Apple had some enormous hurdles with 2.0 and the sdk etc. Hopefully now they can get all the 2.x code stable and refined.... then start working on the backlog of feature requests.

yep. its trivial but annoying nonetheless. and the keyboard lag is a problem too.

I quite often find the keyboard during text is very laggy, yet during email it's fine.

I also get the delay when opening contacts, before the screen moves back to the beginning of the list

Tell me about it - I keep thinking someone swapped my nice phone with an N-Gage...:p

My iPod Touch UI is a bit laggier than before. Nothing horrible at all, but a bit slower in the areas others have mentioned here.

Hopefully the next update optimizes performance, I will be very happy.

The various lag would be nice. The keyboard does get a little annoying when SMSing.

Funny... I think this might be the first update where something wasn't "snappier" and actually "laggier"!

I'm sure nearly all of you already know this, but there is always the possibility that some people will slip through the cracks and never find something out. Also, I'm assuming this has nothing to do with the problems people are experiencing, but there has been a lot of talk about the OS lagging in different apps.

Read If You Downloaded the Unofficial "1,2" 2.0 firmware and Have Not Replaced It :

This unofficial firmware was NEVER meant to be released. It is was a test build for the iPhone 3G that has debugging/tracing features enabled. This will cause the OS and certain applications to feel very laggy and unresponsive (the debugging code is running). If u have not replaced aka "side-graded" over to the official version, do so now. instructions available here: https://www.macrumors.com/2008/07/1...iphone-2-0-firmware-to-official-2-0-firmware/

Bluetooth

Iphone is simply awsome, no complaints at all.
I would just like to see file transfers over Bluetooth added (for photos etc),and then Stevo could really clean up !

since its such a small number change I would imagine that this is simple a fix for the annoying restarts.

I hope that is some new firmware, so i can fix the continuous crashing that i have been experiencing.

this 2.0 firmware was not ready for primetime. Maybe 2.0.1 will fix some of that

For sure my phone crashes at least once a day and I'm sick of it after only a few days, a software update is definitely needed to fix this problem and the one where the keyboard lags and when you click something it becomes unresponsive for a little while.
Yes, Steve does read Macrumors.

riiiight...

since its such a small number change I would imagine that this is simple a fix for the annoying restarts.

Yes, because small number changes are directly related to the number of changes in the firmware. Ooookay.

Long Title Issue, Music Search and Album Shuffle

Long Title Issue, Music Search and Album Shuffle

iPod can't even display long title properly and this is really annoying if you are listening to Japanese songs or classics.

Also I don't get why 'Remote' App has search fn. but not the 'Music menu'

And that hidden 'Album Shuffle' not being activated....These kind of issues really bugs me and not that hard to fix(at least it appears to be).

Oh I forgot... using playlist as alarm....

Small things count you know.

How much will I spend?

My wife and I heading this weekend to buy a 16 and an 8 gig, how much money should I anticipate spending? Beyond the $500 for the two phones, do you prepay any amount of time on the contract? Activation fees etc? Thanks for the tips.

I dont know if its just me but itunes will not sync any of my contacts nor ical. it just says "syncing contacts" or "syncing calendar" and freezes.

it would be nice to see these things fixed

Im having this exact problem now. Everything else syncs fine except contacts, ical, and I believe mail. I've rebooted the phone, itunes, restored the phone (only to have a couple more headaches). Im about to reinstall itunes to see if that fixes anything. Has anyone else had this issue?

I am having a lag with anything contacts.
I wonder if it's due to the 15 apps I have installed, before 2.0 my phone speedy no matter what.

I hope the 2.0.1 update fixes all known 2.0 bugs.

I have ZERO apps loaded and only about 30 songs and my contacts are painfully slow like others have reported.
