Hey guys i know the 2.1 firmware fixes the slow backup speed but did anyone anticipate the backup finishing in under a minute?:D

You'd better Restore it.

After restoring, my 1st backup was like 25-30sec long (I have 40apps installed). Crazy! :eek: Before it was 1h minimum.

The next backups took 5sec...

I'm having the same trouble... it's taking FOREVER to do the initial backup... it even stopped one time and wouldn't go any further!

does that mean i should restore? is that just clearing my iphone and re-synching everything?

my backups have been going pretty fast, i want to say twice or at least three times as fast as it used to be before the update

my backups went from an overnight process (5+ hours) to about 12 minutes now with 2.1. Though i would love a backup under 5 minutes, i think 12 minutes is somewhat acceptable considering the number of apps i have on my phone. just as importantly though, installing and removing apps via itunes with 2.1 is a mere few seconds. That by itself is awesome!!!

when i update or install i put the phone into dfu mode and then restore and update so its a pretty clean install its a pain but it helps

I'm doing my first 2.1 backup right now and it's taking forever... As long if not longer than before!

My first backup took a while too, but every backup after that was pretty quick.

People are so hasty to do restores, just chill out and see if there are other solutions.

See i had slow backups but from what im hearing from people in this thread is my back up process on 2.0.2 was lightning fast compared to you guys with a back up time of 15 mins

i can't seem to get past this point on my first backup while installing 2.1! somebody pleaaaaaaaaasssssse help

people with tops of 30 minute back up did you ever finish any of these

Most of the time...
My previous backups would range from 30min to 6 hours (or longer).
I was careful to make sure when I synced I would only do it when I knew i wouldn't need my phone, so that I wouldnt have to interrupt it.

After my initale ~15 minutes backup I don't a backup bar, it just says backup then sync complete.

2.0.2 = 3 hours.
2.1 = about 5 seconds literally. Period.

!! I know, i just told my gf not to call me for the next couple hours and got ready for a nap, and plugged it in to backup, and it was done in seconds!!!!

Does it keep more than one backup on file. If so, where are they so you can delete them.

under the preferences for iTunes, go to "devices"...

If there are multiple backups there (I have 3, each from a different restore) they will be listed there, and you have the ability to delete them if you would like.

Same thing was happening to me. The first time I quit the Back Up, then I tried again and it took a while, but finally finished. Now Back Ups are really fast, less than a minute.

well my initial backup after the upgrade to 2.1 was about 12 minutes. all subsequent backups after installing/removing apps several times has been under a minute!!!

awesome, however i'm installing a massive dictionary app, and i'll see how the backup handles it :)
