You get downvoted because you must be an Apple fanboy to be here. There is no room for those that question anything Apple does. Now get with the program and admit you love the rumored design.

Flip side of that. Regardless of what Apple does, people are going to complain. I have been a member of this board for a long time and over the last few years it has been taken over with negativity/complaining. Majority of it is complaining/negativity for complaining/negativity sake. Just my observation and two cents.

This raises a bit of a curiosity for me: if I take a bigger pinch of salt am I more skeptical or less so? Is a tiny, tiny pinch indicative of my possible acceptance?

I hated the curved phone design of years past. Trying to prop your phone up against something is futile. Rather maddening.

I liked that you could stand the iPhone 4 and 5 design on its long edge. Then they moved the power button to the side…

It’s not a downvote (nothing goes down), it’s an indication of disagreement with your opinion. You might wonder why they disagree, but when someone “likes” your comment, you might wonder why they like it just the same. 😉

I always buy a case anyway. I like the squared off design better. It's just easier to hold and not drop.

I understand the want to do something new or interesting for the big new iPhone 20 or XX or whatever. But how about iOS that isn't full of bugs, or actual new features that make the phone better, or easier to use? No. We'll just rely on dragging old gimmicks out of the Apple Vault and calling them "new".

Which seems like the norm for Apple these days. Don't make it thinner or lighter or more "roundy" for the sake of it. Make changes that make it function better. Let form follow function. Go back to making things that "just work" instead of some flashy new bezel or color.

Come up with something that genuinely makes the device better. That's how you knock people's socks off. Unfortunately, I don't see Apple doing that. Just enough. Phone it in, just keep the money flowing in. It's kinda sad.

I liked the original iPhone and 3G, they had a really nice feel in the hand. And I liked the iPhone 6-7 for that as well. But, once the X came around the phones were a lot heavier and the curved sides became a lot less comfortable to hold.

It’s okay, people have different preferences and are making different trade-offs. The trouble is when people feel there should only be one way.

Some like designs with very round edges. For some it’s too slippery, which is bad if they don’t want to use a case. Some are fine using a case but feel that it defeats the purpose of having rounded edges. Some correctly observe that overly rounded edges can make it more difficult to fit a case around.

It’s clear that no design fits everyone. Personally I think that a flat-ish band but without sharp edges is a good compromise that most users will be fine with. But that’s not compatible with the rumored XX curved display design.

I’m okay with it if they also took the time to reduce the curvature of the corners, giving a little more usable space and moving the phone a bit towards the iPhone 5(s) design which was perfect. A similar proportioned 5s with today’s bezel and screen sizes would be great!

It makes sense for Liquid Glass, and I'm sure it will be pretty, but will it be practical? Nope.

Apple, look at what we need and then look forward. Stop trying to come up with gimmicky ideas to spur purchases, start focusing where you need to be in five years and what we will need at that point, and then build toward that (and if it means you cannibalize the iPhone, then you cannibalize the iPhone).
