Iphone 2g activation help?

Hey all, I recently broke my ipod touch, and bought an un-activated iphone 2g from a friend. Is there any way that i can activate/unlock it so i can just use it as an ipod?

If you have a friend who uses AT&T, you can just stick his/her SIM card in your iPhone for just a few seconds and that should activate it. If the redsn0w thing doesn't work out.

You can do that for all iPhones but the iPhone 2G.
For the 2G iTunes will make you pick a plan with data and texts before it activates it.
