Ok updated to 3.0, jailbroke it and got my cycorder and winterboard back

    Only two problems noticed,

1)Boss preffs battery percentage does not work if i enable it it disables it soon as i exit the application and resets my home screen dunno whats up with that -maybe cause i restored it with keeping that enabled in the last update i dunno. Funny thing is I started with have that numeric percentage on (not the boss prefss but the iphone 3gs version) somehow and then installed and toggled it off. Haven't been able to toggle it back on though

2)When closing any applications that are not stock (mail, safari, ipod, phone), it does not zoom out to the homescreen. What I mean is when I close the application by hitting home there is a 2 second delay and then the home screen just appears. Don't know if that's normal in 3.0 because it look like the app was force quit. Not sure:eek:

Too lazy to restore and jailbreak and reload apps and what not so I am gonna stay with my phone the way it is. I can live with those two problems

    PS Dev-Team you people rock:rolleyes:

Neways nvm: just deleted boss prefs and got SBSettings, soo much better

    Please Delete

I upgraded to the latest SBSettings (from 6/22) and now the fading when closing apps appears to be working consistently.

Btw SB Setting so awesome way better than Boss Prefs
All it needed was a reboot, l almost contemplated on restoring my phone

Actually, I am having this problem, many apps when closed seem to hang for 2-3 seconds then abruptly end (as if hard closed) rather than smoothly shrink away.

I have rebuilt the custom ipsw and restored, and rebooted many times now, but still the apps close in a peculiar fashion. Phone seems to work fine otherwsie, although occasionally (maybe once a week) it will just simply crash into safe mode.

I do realise these sorts of issues are a risk with jailbreaking, but has anyone else had this issue or are there any fix suggestions?

    Cheers.

Apparently this happens if you have restored from a 2.x jailbroken back up

Ok, thanks, thats interesting. How did you find this out? I thought a restore was really just about replacing settings, call historys and the like, I cant see how restoring in this way would affect the performance of the firmware??

Just an update to say this hasnt worked. I reinstalled the JB ipsw and set it up as a new phone, but after 10/15 mins it was back to hard-quitting apps rather than shrinking them. Even though the phone works fine, this is annoying me I must say. Hmmm...

I also have this issue... I've been living with it since 3.0 was released(and jailbreakable).... But, its getting really old fast!! Not all the apps do it...

The thing that kills me is the hang time from hitting the home button to the app suddenly closing... 10-11 sec until the app closes!!!

I might try a restore and rejailbreak...
Anyone get this fixed without restoring??

I haven't seen any wait 10-11 secs. Could it be related to low available memory?

    My latest efforts are:

Did another restore with fresh non-JB firmware then re-JB'd with redsn0w for the Mac. Previously I have used Pwnage Tool (minus the Icy app)

This has improved the situation slightly, the phone is running slightly more smoothly but after a few hours or running a purchased app like a game or WunderRadio etc. it will not close smoothly.

It isnt taking anywhere near 10-11 seconds, its almost instant in fact, but its still hard-closing them rather than smooth shrinking. However, some of the integral apps (Mail,Phone, App Store etc) still close fairly normally. Since the new redsn0w jailbreak it hasnt gone into safe mode either.

I'm now wondering if its one of the Cydia Apps causing the issue like SBSettings or five dock icon?

Again, this isnt so much of a huge problem all this app closing stuff, but its just a bit annoying and moreso cos I cant figure out why its doing it!!

Its 10-11 secs.... I count 1 1000, 2 1000, 3 1000... Some Apple apps dont do it... But most of my apps take that long...

I'm going to restore it tonight hopefully and then I am going to rejailbreak and add things one at a time until I find out what is causing this...
Intelliscreen? Five Icon Dock? Reflective Dock? SBSettings? elert? qTweeter?
Anyone else have these hacks seeing 10-11sec until the app hard quites?

I'm starting to think it could be a memory issue as referenced somewhere above.

The phone got into a state recently where it was hard-closing the apps again, I checked SBsettings to find I had only 15MB of available memory. I killed some running processes like iPod and Safari and hit the "Free Memory" button in SBSettings, this knocked the free memory up to around 50MB, and after that the apps shrank away nicely (mostly).

I wondered though how much memory you *should* have available on your phone at any given time to ensure smooth operation? Anyone got any ideas?

Is 15MB really low? Is 50MB low? Is 50MB a lot? I have no clue?!
