iPhone 3G + 3GS glass/digitizer the same?

Hey, just wondering if there is in fact any differnce between the iphone 3g and 3gs digitizer glass replacement pieces. I would think from an engineering standpoint there would be no point in it.
Anyone tried this out? It would save money on purchasing the parts as resellers are charging $10 more per unit.
